PHOTO OF THE DAY: A blast from the past

Dominicans will remember when enamel cups were a common sight in every home. That was way before the advent of plastic kitchenware.

I LOVE THE COMMENTS, THEY`RE SOOOOO DIFFERENT FROM THE CRIME AND HOOLIGANISM GOING ON IN MY DOMINICA.AS SIMPLE AND OLD AS THE CUP LOOKS,ALL OF DOMINICA SHARES THE SAME SENTIMENTS AND NOSTALGIA. THE GOOD OLD DAYS WHEN WE WERE ONE AND LOVED OUR NEIGHBOURS AS FAMILY. THAT`S THE BEST CUP TO DRINK A HOT LOCAL COFFEE FROM THE TREES IN MY MOM`S YARD, SITTING ON HER STEPS BEFORE THE SUN RISE. AM HAPPY FOR THE EXPERIENCE.

Well, DNO, you have succeeded again in making Dominicans smile. See how powerful seemingly innocuous and simple pics can be?!

    Good job.

Wow, I laughed so much when I saw that cup. All I could think about was my mother standing on the back step of our house “fanning” my tea in the morning before I went to school. I’ll be saving this pic in my photo of the day folder lol.

Trust me the good ole days are still here…At the weekend I bought two like this at Issa Trading for just about $2.00 good to have. My baby prefers to drink out of this than her bottle. No idea why but it’s amazing

    Thank you DNO.

    Yes cocoa.

Mothers would go over the window using two cups pouring the tea in and out of the both so that it could cool down before giving the bush or cocoa tea to the hungry ones.

Then in the “afternoon” we would get some squash, hot bread and yellow butter, or cube cheese or whatever…

WHEN THEY WERE NEW WE USED TO CELEBRATE. But we all love those cups of love….old and new

    DNO , you know what?

Laughter and tears for those innocent days.

We were good children with good mothers…..most of us in Waitikubuli were.

ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO THE ALMIGHTY

Wow, that sure is a blast from the past. I remember drinking from those car-yea cups. The morning karco with karnel, coconut milk and veezoo used to taste real proper in those car-yea cups with a little roat fig or morso dasheen chaud-fay.

All glass cups use to stay locked in the cabinet for when strangers visit…..lol. And if you break one? If fire in u boomboom..lol

 Boy, I remember the days of trying to drink a hot caco in one of them cups before going to school.

That was a challenge because that enamel cup gave you no protection from the heat. The cup would burn your lips.

Also we would knock the cup against a stone and listen to enamel cracking for a while after.

    Good days man! :-D
