The photographer says this garbage dump is located a few yards from the Waitukubuli Nature Trail and thinks Dominicans can do better.

Quick question: What, exactly, are YOU doing about this? other than telling other people what they need to do?
Why would this be even be posted a photo of the day, foolishness
Agree with you 1000%, what they need to know Dominica are not the only ones visiting this site, this is nasty, what is happening in Dominica, as afr as the eyes can see, something is definitely wrong with the island
those peapol realy mess up the earth sorry about my spelling
This looks like Bell Hall. It is such a shame for a country that is considered the nature Island. This is so unnatural. Some of us are just litter bugs attempting to transform our island to Litter Island
Wow, Come on Dominicans,, stop the Political hatred..
One thing, we can take things in the wrong way eh. What the man’s birth place have to do with it. I know Andy and the guy maybe is more patriotic than many of those of you making comments about his birth place. For one to leave all they could be doing in Switzerland and to come and live and stay in Dominica to develop our young persons bodies and minds.. is exemplary. Some of us do not want to pick up a piece of plastic in front of our door if the wind blows it there.. but we are talking.
I am sure he took the picture because he was concerned and knows that posting it there will generate some interest and will surely get it cleaned. Dominicans talking more nonsense about Dominica than a little garbage could ever do damage to our country. Do we listen to ourselves on the various talk shows and what we say on the net… these are worse.
So you think, tourists will think Dominica doest have junk? Does someone look at you in your nice clothes and painted faces and not think you have junk in your life?
Grow up people and stop personalizing everything. And Andy… I am waiting for the follow up pictures too… of the cleaned up area.
Marpin, used to do a segment on that before… where it? Bring it back for some changes.. you see how it used to work well…. bring it back Marpin.
Waw I feel alot better now. After a hard day I come online looking for a nice sunset or nice picture.. but is more rubbish i gettin.. bes I had just go in d toilet and jock my stress away man
Pertaining to the image of Dominica, this pic is going to do more harm than good.
It is not going to force the perpetrators to refrain from the illegal garbage dumping.
All it will do is give any foreigner the impression that this is the state of the entire country.
The photographer himself is not Dominican by birth. I wonder, would he ever go on a hunt of degrading pics of his European country and post them online ?
This is very sad! Obviously this is a problem that needs to be addressed and ”photo of the day” is not the place for it. When searching through the other ”photo of the day” pics anyone can find beautiful pics of the country…then there’s THIS one.
Rather than submitting the photo to Dno, why didnt the photographer contact the proper authorities or better yet, gather a bunch of your Swiss buddies and help clean it up.
Andy may not be Dominican by Birth but he sure is Dominican at Heart. What he is trying to do is bring an awareness to us that we need to be more responsible citizens. This gentleman has contributed so much to our island and has had such a positive impact on our youth. He has surely contributed more than most of us to our country’s progess and has helped in showcasing our island and exposing our youths’ talent.
I regret not posting this photo because I see this every day. For those of you who wonder where this is, this is located in the Cottage constituency right next to the Douglas Bay just after the Cabrits national Park. it is time we as Dominicans take action and clean up our mess.
Good work Andy. Thanks for highlighting an issue we have been sweeping under the rug.
Don’t shoot the messenger, stop dumping garbage!!!
A $7,000.00 fine and the cost of the clean up should be the deterrent, along with a $5,000.00 reward taken from the fine to aid in information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the culprit.
DNO……… you all could do better. That picture is not one for ‘photo of the day.’ Come on. You know what kind of negativism that picture would have caused. For one, the Government doesn’t or rather, cannot be looking when the perpetrators are at work. People will always find a way to do mischief. They may see it as easier for them. I am not saying it is right. It is up to the local, ordinary man to report these people or take it upon himself not to litter. There have always been illegal dumping sites around the island, praise God, a lot have been closed down.
Certain Dominicans try their best to degrade the country, I think, you 2, DNO, trying that as well. Give us breath taking photos of the beauty the nature island has 2 offer. Give us the set of pics that would want someone to visit not turn away. Use your other columns for the pessimistic issues.
Sometimes we need negativism to pull up our socks. If we continue to keep our heads in the sand and ignore what is the present reality, we will do nothing to fix. We need saying that Dominica is the nature island, yet we do all in our power to pollute her. This reminds me of the Marpin segment which brought issues to the fore and these issues seemed to have been dealt with soon after. MAYBE A GREATER EFFORT WILL BE MADE TO ENSURE THAT THIS PLACE IS CLEANED AND WE AS DOMINICANS CONTINUE TO ENSURE IT REMAINS CLEAN. THANKS MR, PHOTGRAPHER.
shame on the ones who polute. For that huge sign to be there and all that trash. A shame!
AH MAGWE’ SA, WE CAN DO BETTER. UNITY MY PEOPLE UNITY, LET THE POLITICIANS FIGHT TO THEIR OWN DESTROCTION AND LETS SHOW THEM WE CAN BUILD SWEET DOMINICA. LETS UNITE MY PEOPLE
Good work Andy…..let the authorities see what needs to be done. And then when it is cleaned up…make some people pay…..I cant understand why people litter. I keep every scrap paper or plastic in my car until I reach home to discard it properly. People too nasty… and they do not realise that these kind of waste stays on the ground…forever.
nice pic! Dominica is so beautiful
That is salopte. Too much ignorance in Dominica. What is even more frightening is that we are quickly becoming a lawless state. With irregularities, inconsistencies and total disregard for the laws of the land (From top and bottom) lawlessness is our destiny.
No wonder we have deaths by leptospirosis. Pure nastiness!
Sad to say Roseau in the Nature Isle is one of the filthiest cities in the Eastern Caribbean the drains make you want to vomit, particularly on Cork Street.
What a shame! First of, te old car can be scarapped and the metal sold. Scrap metal is at a premium now. While this is not the government’s fault, the community should notify the solid waste department to perform a clean up and some strict monitoring and enforcement ( seizing of vehicles involved, fines levied against individuals).
It is the government’s fault. Dominica Solid Waste Management is a governmental entity, let’s get that clarified. Secondly, it simply shows the ignorance of people in our nation
Excuse my errors ‘the’ and scrapped
Instead of just etecting a sing and walking away, why don’t the authorities keep a vigil and prosecute those they catch dumping garbage in the area?
They prosecute for all kinds of silly things after all.
Although it is very disgusting that anyone would do such a thing, we have to put into consideration the image of Dominica we are portraying to the world and to future tourists thinking of visiting.
There are many beautiful pics of the country that could have been submitted ANDY!
I don’t know what is wrong with this Swiss tourists turned Dominican. STUPPES!!
no point in hiding the filth in D/ca. The tourists will see it when they visit anyway. It’s our responsibility to keep our lovely country clean. I guess it’s a norm these days to shut our mouths about what affects the country.
Dominica’s Image is what it is-we are too careless and behave too irresponsible as a people. Andy, show the pictures. Do you think the tourists do not see the same when they come here? I know this Swiss Dominican is a proud Dominican. If he did not care, he would never show the picture. He is aware that as long as things are not highlighted, they are never dealt with. That’s Dominica for you.
So what if he is not a born Dominican. At least he CARES.
Condemn those who think it’s OK to dump rubbish any and every where.
Why do some Dominicans have an aversion to cleanliness.
Hope they clean it up. This is an eye sore. SHAMMMMME!!!
So the garbage stays? In the meanwhile who cleans up?
them ppl too salop
seems like every empty spot is a land fill. gosh man, some people too nasty.
What makes this photo funny is the SIGN IN THE BACKGROUND stating that you are NOT to dump garbage there!
OUCH!!! What a slap in the face!! Tourism… everybody’s business???
Any one caught should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
They should put one infront d community of grandbay ,
You an as*
I think it would look better infront your shack.
i second that
Shatta I’m from Porssie -proud to be and I must say that your comment is shameful and sad.If you are trying to be funny then mr comedian you got alot of work to do.
that was not wiltshire vision….
These people who dump their garbage are very extremely nasty. There is no other word to describe these people but plain old NASTY.
Nonsense you talking. There is another word, and it is SALOP!
well there is stupid
saying what segment of the train might have also been useful
such a shame. I believe we can do better than that too! we will have to start using cameras soon and give some heavy fines to the culprit
Dominicans Help To bring down there Own country after all people know better than this
d country needs a clean up
nature isle but it so dirty
Nature Isle is dirty because we dirty it. If we all clean up after ourselves or dispose of our rubbish properly, then the Nature Isle will be clean to the point that it will be mistaken for the Garden of Eden.
IT IS ALSO THE WAY TO A BEACH. I THIING THOSE WHO DOING SO NEED TO STOP IT. PLEASE LETS US KEEP OUR COUNTRY CLEAN AND GREEN.
although there is a sign saying this is not a dump site. this is very disturbing…
