You know Christmas is near when sorrel begins to appear very often, probably too often, in the market or on the streets of Roseau.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Sorrel…very nutritious too and to the diaspora in Cali ….STUPES! Been away for much longer than you I’m pretty sure and I remember very well what Sorrel is.
Sorrel with ginger…..de bomb.
The picture is beautiful. Please permit me to state, that red represents The Sacred ‘Heart’ of Jesus. Is it any wonder we have sorrel at Christmas?
I love to drink Sorrel. West Indian homes are not without it at Christmas, as also the ginger beer.
Generally we get dry ones in Toronto. For the first time I saw the fresh ones at the grocery store last Christmas. I bought some. I happened to be standing near it and an Indian lady asked me about it. I explained it to her. Of course, she is not familiar with it.
A few days later I returned to purchase some more and they were all gone. Since DNO has this picture, it reminded me that I hope the grocery store will get some this year. I will keep my eyes opened for them. Sorrel has health benefits.
People in the cold countries use cranberries which are somewhat similar to sorrel and in color. I love cranberries as well. Cranberries could be used in different ways. I have a few recipes and I am looking forward to making a few.
Mais sa madame sa la weh non?
What is sorell? been gone to long.
A diaspora in Cali.
How long? I have gone long but I have not forgotten about Sorrel.
Now 16 sorrels flr three dollars
what the clove suppose to do for the sorrel nuh? never tried it with clove
It makes it tasty/delicious. Furthermore, clove is healthy. Today I cooked some beans. Among other seasoning, I placed some powdered clove in it.
I will be making Sorrel for Christmas and will put some clove pods in it. I love the taste; everyone loves the taste.
As I write this, the local Toronto TV Station is broadcasting a Christmas advertising. Unbelievable, we are a month away. How time flies. Hope you have a blessed Christmas.
You know you from Dominica when Christmas coming and the first thing that comes to mind is a good Sorrel drink.
You got that right
Clove give it that pinch and ginger spice it up. But not much. A rich flavor serve cold not to sweet and no ice.
ya some people put so much clove in dat..ewwww the real thin is it makes it’s own wine..u need not put anything just pour your boiling hot water and when it is well drawn leave it for days after straining..and you will get this wine taste the rue taste of sorrel…people spoil it by putting clove ginger and so on.
well if u putting ginger don’t put 2 much though but too much of those ingredients does lose the true taste
personally i don’t put clove, but a lil ginger, spice and bwaden do make it taste better.
What a good drink that is when prepared right. It takes little yet people spoils that taste. And of course thank you Lord. God creation we are bless with. We thank you Lord for the Job you bless us with. when we work well and hard to bring income to our bosses the less they can do is to bless us at Christmas or end of year. thank you Jesus.
