Photographers – novice, amateur or professional – in Dominica are asked to submit photos, photographer credit and caption to [email protected] for consideration for the Photo of the Day feature, daily on dominicanewsonline.com or news.dm.
Submissions can be accompanied by a brief profile and contact information of the photographer. Submissions will be published in the order they were received.
Photos must be taken of Dominicans and things Dominican. Note that submissions advertising any form of business or business activity will not be published.
Dominica News Online also encourages the submission of a variety of photos, ranging from nature shots, people shots, weird shots, interesting human interest shots, and anything ‘newsy

I am not familiar with the purple one. Is it used like the regular bananas..I mean eaten raw when ripened….boiled when not ripe….or is it used like plantains and cocoy?

Man ! I like my bananas, Once I went to visit a friend, here goes she was cooking a broth with only banasnas, she told me that was poor people’s food and she would’nt offer me from it, I went to the pot and put food in a plate then sat down to eat, she laught so much

Locally this variety of banana is knowwn as “fig kochon”, “fig diven”, and possibly other local names. but I understand that its common name is “apple banana”.
Boss…this is not Corcoy. Corcoy is different. If you need help ask a local farmer.
This is not Corcoy,this is another variety of bananas. They also call it pisanrogers (excuse my spelling) and it is also called ‘reckeh negre’ by some where I grew up. Lol. In all honesty it does look a bit like a certain body part.
