PHOTO OF THE DAY: Fruits of paradise

In some parts of Dominica the bananas with the short fingers are called “fig miskay” or “fig zibyay.”

Photographers – novice, amateur or professional – in Dominica are asked to submit photos, photographer credit and caption to [email protected] for consideration for the Photo of the Day feature, daily on dominicanewsonline.com or news.dm.

Submissions can be accompanied by a brief profile and contact information of the photographer. Submissions will be published in the order they were received.

Photos must be taken of Dominicans and things Dominican. Note that submissions advertising any form of business or business activity will not be published.

Dominica News Online also encourages the submission of a variety of photos, ranging from nature shots, people shots, weird shots, interesting human interest shots, and anything ‘newsy

    I am a grown man now and i have been eating fig from the time i was a little baby. As the years are passing by, is so i am falling into stronger love with fig. I like anything that has to do with fig. I like green fig, ripe fig, toton fig,red fig,even cod fig.Everyday i eat fig,i dream fig, i say long live fig. To be my friend you must like fig, to visit my home you must like fig,i even want a name change to “fig”. Everywhere i go be it shopping,a meeting,walking, the beach,once even a funeral,i walk with a fig.I dont visit restaurants that does not serve fig.All you i am hooked on fig..So morning, noon and night just give me fig..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Yes I. Yesterday we had some fresh balaw, today we have some fresh plump green fig, all we need now is the onion, garlic, salt seasoning pepper, chives in a blck bottom pot on a three stone foo difay outside. The fresh hot broth is ready.
