Father i pray that you open the eyes of our youth to see the little things that made us live as one in our sweet dominica, our catapaul, cabowa, calloge to ketch totwell, sekeyea and zotoelan, river bathing while ketching the crayfish and vio, breaking the zaman from the almond tree, father i pray that you bring those days back to our sweet DA. THOSE WERE THE DAYS MY BROTHER, WISH WE COULD RELIVE THEM MANY MORE.

Everyone wants to go back in time? You see someone cooking by the side of the road; it’s very good to remember such history. I understand every one of you, I think of it too, but I wouldn’t want to go back to Stone Age while other Caribbean country is moving on..!

about a man cooking a Drot by de roadside down in the plantation.Up here in Morne au
diable this is a daily occurance and we don’t use old piece of boards. We use bois gomier

Jah – You recon that Dominica is stuck on nice, well what is wrong with that.

I have never experienced road/river side cooking, and I’m jealous of those who have. For your info this is done on ALL Caribbean islands (my husband did it in Jamaica). Embrace new things/ideas, but NEVER forget where you came from.

Its so refreshing to see the photo of this man ‘cooking-up a storm’ by the road….than to see the sad picture recently of a man laying deceased on the road side. Nice, once again!

Keep cooking my fellow Dominican. I can see your eagerness to taste this sumptuous meal. :) Show us how it could be done and easily too. Enjoy your delicious and healthy meal. You make us envious. :)
It is a great reminder how people cooked in those days and less expensive. Back to the good old days. The food was cooked properly, healthily and tasted delicious.
Remember too the same format was used to iron clothes and the clothes were ironed properly.
We have come a long way and with all types of technology, gadgets, telephone and with visual call display and call waiting, etc., electrical kettles, coffee makers, toasters, stoves/ovens, microwaves, food processors, grills, toaster-ovens, slow-cookers, deep fryers, pop corn makers, washers and dryers and much more, mentioning a few… which can be costly and speak of repairing them. You name, we have it.
These days it is said that when these conk-out, are no longer operable, it is better to throw them out rather than repair them and purchase another which is obviously more expensive. And so, the credit cards schemes were invented, placing people in debt and more debt. Financial institutions can even given an overdraft on your bank account in the event customers overspend.
Yet, we are not the healthiest, happiest people and some, not the nicest ones too.
What with the advent of Vitamins (good in themselves) and numerous medications of all sorts, note that medication does not cure. It may only stabilize the condition if it does not make us sicker and kill us first.
Today, we also have TV, computers, VCR’s, DVD’s, cellular phones, Ipods and the likes and additional technology continues to be devised. While all these serve a good purpose, all contribute to taking up our time as we go around being busy and saying that we are busy, too busy for others, too busy too keep in touch, too busy to be nice to others and to assist them and to return phone calls, giving us less time for others and to spend with them as it were in those days.
What a dilemma we face today, tomorrow and as long as we live. I have not yet touched what is occurring immorally in the world and increasingly so as some people become more godless. Are we truly better off today than in those days?
It is said that one day those who will be alive after the trials and tribulations, when Our Lord Jesus Christ returns to earth with His holy angels, everyone will return to the land… and will be godly and happier people. I have such information.
Have a blessed, happy, peaceful and great day!
DON, I know that you will keep us informed of all news and all such beautiful pictures of Dominica. Thank you!
