i have hiked to that lake as a kid over ten times to raise funds please we cannot use our land mark for water sports. we were never allowed to even bath in there, why kill our beauty, its a shame what we make a few dollars do to our environmet.
What a beautiful picture. So serene. It looks inviting enough to go for a swim. I recall those days that no one dared go on the lake with boats or swim in it. As I recall we would only stand at the top of the hill and look at it, that vast stretch of water, from afar. Times have changed. The lake has become friendly or that Dominicans discovered that there really was nothing wrong with it except some superstitious sayings which prevented nationals from fully enjoying it. It is now more impassable. An excellent tourist site for visiting.
Enjoy the view. This is what the ROSEAU VALLEY offers. We are blessed.
please, please dont pollute the lake, keep it clean
Myself, I didn’t know where some drinking water came from ! Thanks for those giving informations. I would sure take a swim to the other side if possible. Nice place.
One of my favourite places in Dominica. Love it!!
come on people, you mean dominican a so darft, that if this was a drinking source for water, that people would be having fun in it? Give the authorities more credit than than. beautiful site, but not me on no kayak. Scared of deep water.
D N.O. can you clarify , is the fresh H20 lake the source for the drinking puplic of Roseau, and it”s surounding area ?.
If so there should be no people out there poluting the water.
@ Annonymous Fresh water lake is source of drinking water? Stop running your mouth like a damn fool.. BOERIE LAKE and a few surrounding catchment areas. You all know nothing about Dominica, what a shame
Have you ever heard that it is not a source of drinking water or that the water is unhealthy for drinking?
Flyboy was currect , that was my initial thougth when i saw it, that is the original water source for roseau, and the south so why is people out there washing there tulu lu, and spitting in the water?.
The trafalga falls originate from that water source.
catching crabs and mullet to make a pot with fig flour and coconut water.
Beautiful exotic Dominica!!! I will hike, picnic and the whole nine at Fresh Water Lake but I will pass on the kyaking.
Dominica has a way of keeping you captive and reminding you what she is all about every other day. GOD Blesss the Nature Isle.

I remember doing this 3 months ago in DA….Had sooooooo much fun…will be back soon..
Isn’t the fresh water lake a source of drinking water for the some villages in Dominica? If so why are these people kayaking on the lake?
SORT, it’s not a source of drinking water, it’s being used as part of domlec HYDRO system.
MUDD, You did not have to call the person “SORT”. It just might not be a Dominica. So just inform him/her that it is not. Be polite
Maybe the intake is much higher from where they are kayaking.
BOERIE LAKE and not Fresh Water Lake. Simple things like that you all should know chah man
