Lady and Admin- I can personally assure you that this photograph is “genuine” and was taken by me during one of my many vacation trips to Dominica. Many of my other photos, are also seen all over the net, originating mostly from FlickR .Some have been used in contravention of the Copyright rules, as in a Barbados online newspaper today. But I do not mind one bit.

I am confirming that this photo is genuine because I am from Bataca; currently residing in New York and because I know my village so well,I am 100% certain that this photo was taken from the main road near Mr. C. Tyson’s house!!! I have similar photos on my computer here to remind me of home which I miss so much. This view is also visible from my house because I live on the hill above the village. Give the photographer a break Dammit!

    Dear Admin,

I would like to noify you to the fact that this photo is not genuine, it can be found on Wikipedia and other Dominica websites on the internet. This breaks the rules.

ADMIN: We depend on contributors who send us photos for “Photo of the Day.” We don’t have the time to investigate every photo of the large volume of photos that we receive. We trust the contributors are genuine. However, if you think a photo has already been published, send us the links so we could investigate and write back to the contributor with our concern. So please provide a link to the photo.

It is absolutely possible for the photo to be authentic. When my family and I vacationed in Dominica, we took several photos in the Carib territory that look very similiar, if not identical to the photo of the day…Lovely photo -Dominica Is So BEAUTIFUL!

@ Lady, Whoever you are, you must think before typing comments; I am Kalinago and I can send you numerous photos of that same view from my house from different angles including one taken from the top of a mango tree. That’s the larger Salybia islet in the distance as seen from Bataca.
