DPC POETRY: Loud noises

I hear loud noises outside my door.
What’s that I hear them talking about?
I look out,
I see no one,
I hear no one.

I hear loud noises outside my door.
Is it my mind gone wild?
I don’t do drugs.
Now and then I drink some wine
to relax and unwind.

I hear loud noises outside my door
What’s that I hear them talking about?
Change of direction?
Change of order?
Change of the organization?
Change of structure?

I hear loud noises outside my door.
It’s getting worse!
It’s deafening!
It’s sickening!

Something is amiss…
There’s too much fear…
There’s too much tension…
What did we miss?

Can you hear that noise?
It’s bursting the ear drums.
“It’s Politricks,” I heard from a voice,
“In a place called Dominique.”

A Head of State gone mad!
A Head of State selling out his scribes!
A Head of State taking bribes!
A Head of State not of this land!

Can you hear the noise?
It’s deafening!
It’s driving me mad.
It’s time to take a stand.
Time to reclaim the land!

I enjoyed your poem Algernon. The sentiments expressed are very much the experiences of many on this island. it speaks of suffering due to noise and a need for change. But change will only come when words are accompanied by action. Make a difference to the lives of many whose lives are being blighted by noise. Add you name and voice to the petition (Dominica news online, taking aim at noise pollution, and follow the link). together we can create a more peaceful and caring society.
