POEM: Child at war

Can you hear my heart beating?
Do you see the tears racing down my cheeks?
Can you feel the earth moving….and feel the fire burning
through your skin?!!…

Father’s nowhere to be found…..
Mother’s laying on the ground…..
Please won’t you hold me now?
Won’t you hold me—hold me ’till tomorrow
I promise I won’t cry
just hold me ’till I see the sun,
Hold me ’till tomorrow comes…………

It’s the smell of a raging war
and the sound of bitter hate
and I’m caught in between.–is this really my fate?
I don’t know why, but I’m in death’s hands
This is something I just CANNOT COMPREHEND

My life has just begun yet I’m slipping to the end…
so please won’t you HOLD me now?!!
wrap your arms around me tight
blind me, rob me from my sight,
Just hold me through the night,
until tomorrow,
shield me from this pain—for just ONE night

This poem is BEAUTIFULLY written. The writer doesnt necessarily have to go through something to write about it, smh. It can be something they see happening around them or even a vessel for the children who dont have that voice. This poem can be interpreted in so many ways-really read it and u will see. Open your mind and try see what the writer is trying to say. Anyways good job Rachel–You are SO talented.

Thank you for taking the time out to read. I didn’t go through anything. I had a wonderful childhood. I love children and I feel for those going through any form of abuse…..many of them have no one to talk to…so I’m crying out
    on their behalf.

What’s going on here? This speaks of a terrible burden in a child’s life. What did you go through to write such a painful poem?
