POEM: Misconception of my heart

Looked like heaven in the distance,
But the dark clouds proved otherwise.
It was just an illusion,
Trying to confuse me,
Trap me,
Trick me,
Into falling.
Falling something deep,
Nowhere close to sleep.

Rather it awakens me,
Opens my eyes,
To a whole new world,
Overwhelmed by the inevitable.
Being pulled into a dilemma,
Marked by sweet words and blushing faces.
Feels more like an affiliation,
But I can see the confrontation,
Followed by endless retaliation,
Cutting stares,
And dreadful despair.

But after all is said and done,
My heart will go on,
Just as it did countless times.
