Organizers of Carnival in Grenada had earlier taken the decision to ban all G-strings and thongs however, Spicemas Corporation has since retracted their earlier statement and opened up the celebrations to its usual relatively unrestricted free-fun and frollick according to Loop TT.
The earlier decision had even banned women with a breast size above D-cups from wearing wired bras.
Kelvin Jacob the CEO of Spicemas Corporations had issued this statement yesterday as justification for the ban: “Understanding that we are living in a Christian society, our morals and values must be upheld,”.
Additionally, a Spicemas release had stated”…Bands of individuals found engaging in these activities will be escorted off the Parade route and fined,”.
However, the board of directors issued a statement saying they reviewed the rules and regulations and made amendments which now say that there will be no full body paint and zero-tolerance for nudity and indecent exposure.
The statement comes on the heels of outrage on social media directed at Spicemas Corporations. Calls for cancellation over the event amidst accusations of hypocrisy abounded.
In response, Spicemas chose to rescind some of their earlier prohibitions.
“Where ignorance is bliss it is folly to be wise’ It always amazes me to listen to the “the moral guardians” that often try to reconcile religious beliefs and human behavior. Nudity is nothing new, it is culturally part of our heritage. The same people who are claiming African ancestry seem to forget that the slaves were scantly clothed and nudity was a natural. These are the same people who seem to think that when their children came out light skinned or their eyes are bluish or greenish that they are of a higher pedigree than the black skinned baby. I wonder if they recognized that the light skin and “pretty” eyes” may have most likely come as a result of a rape from the white slave owners ! DNA don’t lie but I guess the denial is real! we hate ourselves because that’s what we were taught. Hypocrisy at the highest levels!
“Understanding that we are living in a Christian society, our morals and values must be upheld,”. IF you were so christian you wouldnt be promoting revelling as the bible itself speaks against it. Now is either you allowing the people to free up within the confines of the law or you dont. If the law says you can walk around in a wire bra all year round once the nipples and aerola’s are covered then dont try and tell the people how to dress. Carnival is Carnival. Not church.
Channel 1 you ask ‘Where in history were the original slaves seen celebrating their emancipation from slavery wearing g-string and thongs, drunk as what, gyrating on each others rear etc?’ That was during the Greco/Roman feast called ‘bacchanalia’ where anything goes with whomever, wherever. And yes Blacks who became hellenistic happily participated………Forward today the name change to bacchanal but it is all the same
where is your scense humour, those women are loaded bothe up and down and we love it.A baby is coming out of there remember.Go on girls, you’ve got it and you show it,be sure they don’t go in the hands.
Some of these women is size 100 but is they that wearing the skimpyest out fit. Bellies and breast looks disgusting . I mentioned that when i saw the opening of carnival in DA. Trust me even the men have these huge bellies. Let us look after ourselves and reduce the vulgarity and the uglyness. BRAZILIANS diet for carnival not us. Please roll the film and look at our selves.
When I first came to the Caribbean in the 1970’s people bathed in the rivers. The subject for my sculpture “Bathing Figure” dates from those days and originated from a scene on a Grenadian riverside.
The subject bore resemblance to idyllic scenes from past mythology. There was no trace of indecency or vulgarity. My DNO Commentary “Differentiating between Lewd and Nude” followed the same theme.
Carnival, the pinnacle of vulgarity and decadence. And it is so absurd that this sort of vulgarity, lewdness and nakedness is claimed to be Caribbean culture and celebrated.
Where in history were the original slaves seen celebrating their emancipation from slavery wearing g-string and thongs, drunk as what, gyrating on each others rear etc?
Women who jump up in these vulgar festivals have absolutely no respect for themselves but you’ll hear them bawling for society to have respect for them – so hypocritical. And the men who cheer on these decadent behaviours are just as vile and bad.
Channel. you are just coming out of the bushes, Dominicans thought they would never get caught. I have not slept with any of these women so, when I see them I think they could be robots so what. Technology at it’s best. The ugly thing I have seen are men with big stomark. Under the sweat of thy brow thou shall live. The difference between the workers before and now is they were being supervised and maintained, now you are given your own money to spend as you so wish. A lazy person never get rich. Forward we go. Beware of idols.
I don’t understated why DNO didn’t use Grenadian women in their carnival costume instead of Dominicans women because the article has nothing to do with Dominica carnival in my opinion.

ADMIN: Such a response makes relying on accurate information reported on DNO is questionable. If you’re reporting of an incident in Barbados you cannot reference a picture of Antigua. If at press time you are not able to obtain permission of a photo. Proudly post photo not available. I myself looked for the wired bras, thongs and attire that’s reserved for adult eyes.
guide accordingly
…and also remember to ban those
Y strings for the men too…
