Highest number of students in five years registered for January CSEC exams

Exams begin on January 4 and end on January 31

A total of 63 students will be writing the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) exams this month.

This was according to Local CXC Registrar, Magalie Celestine.

“The Ministry of Education is elated to announce that a total of 63 candidates, 46 females and 17 males are registered for the January 2023 CSEC exams,” she said.

She continued, “This has been our highest number for the past 5 years.”

Celestine said the exams are scheduled to begin on January 4 and will end on January 31.

Candidates will be sitting 8 out of the 13 subjects offered for the January sitting.

She mentioned further that all of the paper ones will be administered electronically.

Celestine went on to state that CXC, in 2023, is moving to a new platform called Surpass.

“All of the candidates have been sensitized to that new platform and we are looking forward to [sensitizing] our May-June candidates to use that new platform called Surpass,” she revealed.

Celestine said also that candidates for the January 2023 sitting are expected to bring along to the examination room blue or black ink pens, 3B pencils, a scientific calculator, and a geometry set.

She wishes all candidates success in their exams.

“And I inform the public also that the May-June 2023 registration period is now closed,” Celestine revealed.
