British Virgin Islands premier Andrew Fahie replaced after vote of no-confidence against him passes

Andrew Fahie

The premier of the British Virgin Islands (BVI) has been replaced following his arrest in the US on drug smuggling charges.

The BBC has reported that a no-confidence motion in Andrew Fahie, 51, was backed by the overseas territory’s assembly on Thursday.

His deputy Natalio Wheatley has been sworn in as the new premier of the islands with the approval of its governor John Rankin.

A recent report has said the UK should take direct control of BVI.

The inquiry’s recommendation, which was unrelated to Mr Fahie’s arrest, came amid concerns about corruption on the islands.

This so fascinating that Dominicans who support this Gov’t do not see that the P.M does not make enough money is his capacity as such to legally fund bank loans to build the 2 big houses that he has. Where else in the Caribbean do we see such abuse of state funds, but from other corrupt leaders who will soon fall?
The case in the BVI should tell us that there are local leaders who are still being investigated and the hammer will fall on them.
There is no way he can legally prove his income can support the amount of property he has in Roseau and around Da. Dominicans rather suffer in silence and support a corrupt guy who is willing to give them $300. a month than to stand up for righteousness and Justice. $300 to you compared the $300 million he takes.

    Greed has no limit!!!
It will take them places they least imagine.
In his case, it was an airport, a court room and then a prison.

Nice try… The Padna was stealing from his own people, same as that Padna in DA. They are stealing from all YOU not from the ‘colonizers’ because it’s much easier to steal from all you. I mean in DA, he doesn’t only fleece the state coffers but he also steals the elections to keep going on. Do all you say something? No, you still love the Padna. Hahahaha, see fools!

There has always been corruption and money washing in those jurisdictions such as Cayman islands etc setup by colonialists as a haven for their rich as they are bursting at the seams with rich people. They may have setup this sting themselves in colab with the U.S, did you read the endictment?

Why don’t you think more and judge less. You know, a society of people with like-minded thoughts like yours destroys the fabric of due process, which leads to lawless society where perception is the rule of law, be content with your belief.

These Politicians are nothing more than “Modern day Pirates” just show them the money; and what is hurtful is that they always talking about working in the interest of the People.

One corrupt player is gone and many more to follow. As for Dominica there are some very good crickets that will soon be picked to represent Dominica. PM Skerrit, Anthony Astaphan, Alick Lawrence, Immanuel Manthan, Sam Raphael and others, will soon get their call to represent Dominica in Miami in that big international cricket game

BVI PM, Follow the money – I saw a headline in a local news paper on this story ,,,’Theft meets colonialism’ or something similar. Can you imagine such oxymoron in this day and age when even my 5 grader knows that colonialism IS Theft. It’s the best/brutal/immoral way to keep stolen and enslaved “people” and their land by keeping the people poor and their land underdeveloped; to take all their resources and raw materials to develop the colonizers country and prevent manufacturing in the Stolen land. Not excusing the padna but, it has worked; and we are left with this scramble that’s the remnants of feudalism that European countries are best at. The so-called “mother country” is implicit.

Just like that a corrupt leader is stripped of power. Unfortunately he had to be arrested and outed to get that result. The office is not yours. You’re called to lead not rule.
