DYBT Wellness Week: A healthy mind multiplies the dime

The Dominica Youth Business Trust proudly embarks on yet another initiative to support and empower youth and youth entrepreneurship – The DYBT Wellness Week, under the theme A Healthy Mind Multiplies the Dime. Youth entrepreneurship is widely viewed as a key pillar of a country’s economic development. However, the challenges, unpredictability, and long hours devoted to running a business may sometimes result in entrepreneurs inadvertently putting their health on the back foot, or in worst cases, have their health negatively impacted. In that vein, the Trust saw fit to institute a number of activities geared towards not merely promoting health amongst young entrepreneurs but rather actively demonstrating the steps and decisions one must take in order to establish and uphold a healthy lifestyle.

This year, in an effort to bolster wellness amongst youth, we will initiate three main activities: “Power Hour Sessions,” Social Media Challenges, and the grand conclusive event: a hike to the Boeri Lake. The Power Hour Sessions will take the form of virtual discussion forums with experienced health professionals in the lead to tackle critical issues surrounding health management. Focus will be placed on topics of diet and nutrition, lifestyle, and wellness, and managing stress. These will be followed by an online fitness challenge incorporating jump rope. For the final event, the DYBT team will host a major hike aiming to foster networking and team building amongst entrepreneurs. These events will be open to the general public.

The Trust hopes that these tailormade events will stimulate the participants’ minds into creating new business strategies thereby generating new income streams; ultimately “multiplying the dime” for their businesses. DYBT hopes to make this an annual event as an extension of Caribbean Wellness Month.

We encourage the public to embrace this opportunity as we usher in a new era of health and wellness.

You see, we face a huge problem in DA, in that the media are shamelessly used by Skerrit to bombard us with his nonsensical propaganda. I quote: ‘the Dominica Youth Business Trust proudly embarks on yet another initiative to support and empower youth and youth entrepreneurship’. May I be so bold and ask what you lot actually DO to support the youth? I mean apart from talk.
You further state: ‘ Youth entrepreneurship is widely viewed as a key pillar of a country’s economic development’. That might well be true in a fully functioning Democracy but it is not true for a semi dictatorship/police state, were the head of ‘government’ categorically refuses to account for certain state funds. Them same is true for employment within government, if one is not in possession of the DLP bible or refuse to subscribe, one couldn’t get one of these jobs in a million years. BTW, DNO well done again for reporting this utter nonsense. Let’s be clear, DYBT is just another Skerrit sponsored organisation.

The initiative of empowering our youth by helping create a healthy mindset for generating new entrepreneurial business strategies is highly commendable. But who really are the youth in Dominica? Recently a government minister urged young people to take charge of their “resilient futures.” How can they make entrepreneurship sustainable when the Chinese are allegedly taking over small business even to the extent of making and selling bakes and chicken?

Economics a la Skerrit. We all could learn a lot from him. He has 2 chicken in one cage and 2 chicken in another cage. If you ask him how many he has all together, he will tell you 7. You see a good dose of propaganda everyday also turns a bad thing into a good one. He would also preach one thing and do exactly the opposite. But it doesn’t matter as long a those Labour creatures with these long ears keep braying and nodding, everything is well in the state of Dominica. Believe it or not. Reminds me of Merlin the Magician. How about this one, he sells 10 passports and after paying his agents he gets US1.2million net deposited into a special account abroad. Than he asks Haiden to construct a apartment block with 6 units. Haiden invoices him US$ 1million for that. However, the real cost was only USD750,000. So 125,000 stay with Haiden and 125,000 go in cash to Skerrit. You see that why we need these Laundromats in Dominica. Where ever so often huge amounts of cash are found by accident
