The Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce (DAIC) acknowledges the timeliness of the Government’s measures to cushion the impact of rising fuel prices on consumers.
Against the backdrop of escalating consumer prices globally, this measure will mitigate the impact on consumer purchasing power and related consumption.
In March 2022, the DAIC shared insights into the impact of the rising shipping rates and energy costs on the local economy during a segment of its Taking Care of Business Program. Program participants featured local private sector representatives and regional trade experts, and took a deep dive into the issue and possible paths to easement for private enterprises and consumers alike. A key takeaway was that rising prices have eroded consumer purchasing power, adversely impacting the quality of life of our people and the performance of local businesses. This latest measure will serve to address the issue in part, as it not only places a ceiling on energy prices but also provides a degree of price predictability and certainty around future business decisions.
The DAIC looks forward to continuing to work with the Government to determine solutions to mitigate global impacts while enhancing our economic development.
Wow, even the DAIC is a political tool in Dominica nowadays! Come out and show support for the boss and Labour even if the economy is sinking! DAIC where is the growth in industry and commerce in Dominica?
Who is best to judge the economic climate in the Country right now
as it pertains to government’s measures to cushion the impact of rising fuel prices, You, When you guys run out of tools of the Government, I wonder what else you all will conceive.
Mitigate what!!!!!!
I buying less gas……. and stay at my home.
But most of all……..I walk……. tomorrow is Wednesday…….I doh buying no gas!!!!
I parking de car!
Government doh going to make money on me to pay for rent in morne Daniel.
GA vehicle travel more than regular motorists…….. let government pay themselves
Let me see how long this will last
DAIC is just another completely futile association. The business sector, potentially, should be one of the most powerful and influential entities in any country. In Dominica, the business sector has been devastated by the Roosevelt regime’s ineptitude; repressive and discriminatory policies, and strategies.
The governing autocracy doesn’t even bother to seek the involvement of DAIC before the implementation of policies which directly affect businesses. No respect.
Many more businesses, in Dominica, will continue to go under. Why? Unemployment is the highest it has been in the history of an independent Dominica. The purchasing power of the ordinary citizen has been reduced to almost zero. No trivial and negligible concessions would bring any significant relief to make a real difference.
DAIC is synonymous with greed, ultra-selfishness, cowardice and uselessness.
Aye Skerrit go and buy oil/gas directly from Venezuela eh your buddies selling gas 0.32 cents a gallon
