Dickon Mitchell’s National Democratic Congress (NDC) wins Grenada general elections

Dickson Mitchell

Newcomer to the political arena in Grenada, 44-year Dickon Mitchell, led his National Democratic Congress (NDC) to a 9-6 victory in Grenada’s general elections held today.

The NDC ousted 75-year-old, veteran politician, New National Party Political DC political leader, Dr. Keith Mitchell who is the longest-serving prime minister of Grenada, having served in that capacity from 1995 to 2008 and again from 2013 to 2022. Mitchell was, however, able to comfortably win his seat.

The NDC’s Dickon Mitchell who became leader of his party in October last year defeated, the Foreign Affairs Minister, Oliver Joseph, in the former NNP administration to win his parliamentary seat.

The NDC said in a message on its website that the party was “overwhelmed with gratitude” for its victory and told Grenadians that “now the hard work begins” as… “together, we are moving Grenada FORWARD.”

Man Dog ds, Lin Clown, and and all you feces cleaners of that corrupted crook, no education Roosevelt Skerrit; I want to be the first to president the qualifications of the Prime Minister of Grenada to you supporters and scum of the earth of Roosevelt Skerrit.

    Which this; read this:

” Mitchell graduated from the University of the West Indies with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics and chemistry in 1971. He gained a master’s degree from Howard University in 1975 and a doctorate in mathematics and statistics from American University in 1979.

Now I have absolutely no problems calling Mitchell ” Prime Minister Dr. Mitchell.

And the reason is that from what I can tell; his degrees especially his doctorate mathematics earned him his title of doctor!

Unlike Roosevelt the corrupted who went to Punjab India and bought a worthless bit of paper plastered with sewer feces and telling people he is some pseudo doctor.

Brother man, neither Mitchells lives in Dominica and neither is from Dominica. What are the academic qualifications of your Opposition Leader, Lennox Linton, besides being expelled from The Dominica Grammar School? You should be ashamed yourself talking about Keith Mitchell and Dickon Mitchell. They are both University Alumni. Should I say that Lennox Linton is a High School expelled alumus?

      • Francisco Etienne-Dods Telemaque
        July 6, 2022

Well, my comments do not have anything to do with Lennox, all I am telling you is that Roosevelt Skerrit has no academics, no matter how many honorary Ph. D’s he buy’s and how many times he allows people to dress him up in carnival costumes and put a banner on his chest and call him Knight, he shall remain uneducated, a dunce so to speak forever.

        • July 7, 2022

Yes, they do have something to do with Lennox Linton. You talk about the Supreme Leader of Dominica. Now talk about the Supreme Opposition Leader of Dominica. At least, Skerrit reached 6 Form College and attended University in America. Lennox was a trouble maker and a class nuisance. Lennox is the embodiment of evil and mischief.

I’m waiting to hear that Skerritt has reached out to congratulate the new prime minister of Grenada. I know that the low class, double doctorate dude won’t do that. He might be viewing the newly minted leader not as a fellow leader and compatriot but as an enemy. Once your views don’t dovetail with Skerritt’s you are in his doghouse. That’s the level of childishness we have for leadership.

To seek to compare Dominica’s Opposition to that of Grenada borders on sacrilege. Go listen to this man speak and you’ll be the judge. Transformative was his breakfast, lunch, supper, and snack. In his townhalls all the questions were good and he was on the ^%%$##% ground with the people. He never vilified his own people no matter their geographic location. The thing that the opposition in Da never understands is that in order for you to win some of the people who voted red must vote for you. How can you attract bees with vinegar plus your message is 1 word 1 person.NO word on the future or where we see Da in the next 25 or 50 years, you sometimes wonder if they have the brain of a goldfish. Electoral reform is &^^#% Blue herring stemming from weakness. If that was the issue you need to Nullify your victory in 95. No electoral law has been changed in Da since you won in 1995. You can’t change the rules of the game because you refuse to play politics. Get on the ground.

Jonathan is 70 years old he does not have a banana plant planted in Dominica.Mr DS the world has respect for Skerrit.Do some research and you will notice only the failed supporters of UWP say Skerrit is corrupt, and they do so like drunken parrots.UWP lost election in 2000,22 years ago,and while they braying like DON KEYS Skerrit is getting help from the international financial community, and none is talking about corruption. It is for that, and more idiotic reasons UWP lost more than 1,000 votes in the last election.Dominicans know what Dominica was after Maria they can see what it is today, that is why Dominicans will never listen to UWP BS.

@Lin clown, if you understand international diplomacy you will understand that help is given to the country not because they like Skerritt. They respect the title of head of state and no matter who occupies that post will receive the necessary diplomatic niceties. Gaddafi was received in New York just like any other head of state even if he was a murderer well known to the cultured world. Just look and see Putin get treated with the same diplomatic niceties at the up coming G20 summit despite what’s happening in Ukraine. It’s not about Skerritt it’s about Dominca. Learn something from a 70 year old.
I don’t have to have a banana plant in the country of my birth to claim citizenship and my constitutional rights. You can’t deny my rights so I’ll just ignore your gutter utterances. I own a residence in Dominca and won’t be needing Skerritt’s handouts. Continue playing the game to remain in the house that Skerritt gifted you no wonder you can’t talk sense.

Clown, you are a very sick, ignorant, complicated; delusion person whom perhaps need some psychiatric attention.

This is one of the most stupid comment I’ve ever read on DNO from its inception: “Mr DS the world has respect for Skerrit.”

Where is Roosevelt respected, which world are you talking about?
This is from home; charity begins at home, however, you do not have to look very far to discover that not even in Dominica that corrupted crook Roosevelt is respected.

You that scumbag Kindergarten Graduate, Scroll write; if you believe Roosevelt is respect outside of Dominica, research to find out how he was treated as a nobody in Belize some years ago.
You will find that he was to attend a meeting in Belize city, so traveling on a Launch; the Coast Guard intercepted the dingy he was on, someone on the dingy, said to the offers on the Coast Guard “the prime minister of Dominica is aboard.”
When the heavyweight officer asked who is the prime minister; little boy Roosevelt said “I am;” the officer demanded he identify himself by producing his travel documents.
The Dominica corrupted crook got so mad he refused to attend the meeting.
        Hahahahahahahahahahah!

That’s how much he is respected in the world!
They laugh at him recently in Guyana, he came here spent one day, nobody showed appreciation to him,he may have ran fearing the FBI.
Boy, Roosevelt is nothing outside of his kingdom poor Dominica!

Aren’t most of the nuts and bolts of the corrupt cabal anxious to see the result of the report our $500,000 paid Byron to produce? Well I’m anxious and wondering if we’ll even get one. To those who sing the praises of Skerritt why aren’t they asking for what belongs to all Dominicans, the Dennis Byron report. That’s not hard to do, is it? If they feel so confident of Labor why not prove it by asking for the report. The report won’t change support for Labor die hards but will change the rules of the corrupt game as played by the pied Piper Skerritt.

Truth is neither Linton nor any other challenger will be able to dislodge PM Skerrit anytime soon. Skerrit’s political support system is too strong and wide. From Bill Clinton, Joe Biden, the majority of OECS leaders and others, and foreign diplomats, the PM is very well regarded and reputed.

His broad experience, level headeness and committment to moving Dominica forward have been instrumental in allowing this astute public servant to stay the course inspite of some vile and undue criticism from his detractors.

I have to give Kudos to Grenada for the manner in which their general election was conducted.

It was generally issues oriented; vote counting was relatively quick; there was no controversy about treating or cheating; no threats of court action.

Corruption, controversy, shenanigans, chicanery, skulduggery, and every conceivable wrong has perpetually dogged the election process in Dominica. Where is the much hyped Dennis Byron and his $ 500 000 Electoral Reform Report? Dominica is not for real.

I hope PM designate, Dickson Michelle will not be only a breath of fresh air for politics confined to Grenada but for the Caribbean also.

What the region needs is participatory politics and the end of hyper partisanship and corrupt practices. There should be fixed date for elections, freedom of information, an emphasis on transparency and accountability, etc.

Presently, the Caribbean needs transformational leadership. One that inspires people to strive for excellence in their overall attitude. One where citizens on opposite sides of the aisle can get along (live peacefully) despite their political differences.

After all these years of fierce political acrimony in each Caribbean country, we deserve a respite from that. We need leadership that is not only progressive but is politically therapuetic.

If I am not mistaken Dominica is one of the few countries in the world which have given 3 different political parties a chance to govern (if you count the interim government of Oliver Seraphin then it is 4) and have now decided to stick with the Labour Party, all the other countries rotate around 2 political parties even your great USA. So Skerro when you say “The only place that can’t get a change is da cause they have there brain under there feet with the dictator da is time for a change” You are wrong, when Dominicans are ready both at home and abroad they will do what is in their best interest as they have done before. When there is an EFFECTIVE opposition party that can do more that demonstrate in the streets then Dominicans will open their eyes again.

Wow Grenada gives us hope- What was Dr. Keith doing running for a 6th term? His party won a clean slate the last elections and loss this time- yeap the curtain finally came down on NNP and its 75 year old leader.

Nicely done done Spice island people, congratulations and good Luck to the young lawyer as he stirs his country in a forward direction.

It will be Dominica’s time come next election to usher in a new PM come high or low water– Mark my words people it will happen. The curtain will come down in Da on this papyshow government we have next time around.

A once revolutionary country gives you hope? With Skerrit, we only usher people to their seat and listen to the charismatic leader.

Skerrit is a corrupt liar that doesn’t serve any purpose for the country, Infact the opposite is true. The man is generally useless.

Congratulations to Prime Minister Elect, Dickson Mitchell, and his party for slaying the political dinosaur.

Who I want to give the most credit for the change to the Grenadian electors. These people are well informed and very decisive. Conversely, the Dominican electorate is gullible, ignorant and would be swayed by crumbs and pittance.

You are the one living on crumbs and pittance. Everybody else is living happily and doing well for himself and herself. You are the one soucaying sel. Get your ras out of here, both you and the Wesley country bookie, Franciso Telemakak, who knows everything, yet, he cannot take care of his own medical conditions with 4 fake correspondence, scientific degrees and a church mouse, old man.
