Dominica hosts French West Indies mission as part of efforts to increase foreign direct investment

The delegation from the French islands on the June 12-17 mission

The Invest Dominica Authority (IDA) is taking on several initiatives as part of efforts to increase foreign direct investments. According to the Executive Director of the IDA, Ms. Rhoda Joseph, trade missions from the French West Indies are a part of the Authorities’ strategy to increase foreign direct investments and to seek partnerships with foreign investors in key areas of sectoral interests.

“We have been working with the Chambers of Commerce of Guadeloupe and Martinique in the identification and targeting of investors in the French territories interested in investing in Dominica either through green field projects, joint venture, or partnership,” Joseph said. “As part of these efforts, IDA will host an inward investment mission from June 12 – 17, 2022 comprising of forty (40) businesspersons representing twelve (12) companies in Guadeloupe and ten (10)
companies in Martinique. These business people have expressed interest in considering Dominica as an investment destination and will be engaged in a series of activities during their visit to include: (i) Business matching meetings, (ii) site visits to business of interests and investment areas, and (iii) site visits to Dominica’s natural attractions, which have been arranged to take full advantage of their stay on island.”

The IDA will be placing a strong focus on attracting investments in manufacturing and agro-processing, organic agriculture, creative, knowledge & digital sector as potential investment opportunities. Investments in eco-tourism accommodations and ancillary services will also be discussed during the June 12-17 mission. Invest Dominica Authority is also keen to listen to opportunities on possible new investment ventures that will be of mutual benefit to Dominica and the French West Indies.

As the economy continues its steady path of recovery, the IDA is supporting Government’s vision of making Dominica the first climate resilient country in the world and will continue to seek new opportunities and target sustainable investments that would redound to improving the lives and livelihood of our citizens.

“Invest Dominica Authority is the Government’s agency responsible for promoting and facilitating both local and foreign investment into Dominica. ”

So, tell me, tell the kid where was this so called “government Roosevelt” agency when government Roosevelt Chichi Royer Skerrit chased Ross University School of Medicine away, and out of Dominica?

Where were they when government Roosevelt Skerrit Chichi Royer chased Colgate Palmolive, the Shine Company, Dragon Windows , the Beer company, and every other foreign company which once operated in the country away.

Where was this so called agency Roosevelt, and Charles Savarin were calling for the boycotting of Brisbane and other local business operating in Dominica long prior to the birth of the Dominica Mountain Chicken Carapud crapo Mentality Roosevelt Skerrit?
They are laughable; to consider those in the picture foreign investors, is like scraping the dregs out from the bottom of a salt barrel, no place else to turn.

    Just…

Dragon windows still operates in the Fond cole industrial site out of a new facility i am told. Colgate is now locally owned DCP successors. The beer company was destroyed by Maria and couldnt find a suitable location close to town and close to a spring source. The school in portsmouth is all skerrit fault.

Why wouldnt you consider those in the picture to be investors? because they are not wearing suits? These are business owners and reps from certified businesses accompanied by the guadeloupe and martinique chambers of commerce .

If you knew better you would understand waste of time nonsense when you encounter it.

For your information Colgate Palmolive has long left Dominica; and to talk this nonsense about beer company was destroyed and could not find suitable location is hogwash!
Since you have an excuse for the mentioned leaving, how do you account for Ross University School of Medicine leaving Dominica, to Barbados?

The sooner some of you Roosevelt Butt kissers remove the wool from over your eyes, and discover what that wimp has done to the country, you all will continue living in backwardness; misery and poverty.
Ignorance is bliss, but until that blind spot is removed from your vision, Roosevelt will take the country down into the pit of hell with all of you puppets with him!

Look around you you will find that children sits at their parent television, goes out and try to speak in the accent they hear on Television believing they are Americans, how stupid can that be?

But you see, Melisa and Roosevelt introduce the fools following after them the American Thanks Giving Holiday, which is not in our British inherited culture, and holidays; they do not know how and the reason for that holiday, two years ago they introduce you all to something which has absolutely nothing to do with Dominica.
I read on DNO sometime ago where some ignorant Dominican wrote “thank you for your service” in reference to an American Veteran.
Americans honor their veterans who fought in World War ll, the Viet Nam, Kuwait, and the Iraqi Wars, or as long as they served in the American Military.
This person don’t know this honor is bestowed on American soldiers, for their service rendered; the person thinks that’s related to Dominica as if they were out there serving Dominica.
If you only knew better; you would have known that beer can be brewed in any backyard, or in someone kitchen, it simply depends on how it is set up, and the amount of beer one wants to brew!

Again if Dragon Windows still operates in Dominica, how come when government Roosevelt former minister of education dunce Petter, wanted replacement windows for the Wesley Secondary School which they allow to into decay, because the UWP built!
How when the people demanded the doors and windows be replaced Petter said it is taking time because he had to order the windows from Dragon windows in Barbados.
Some of you resides in Dominica, or where, and do not have a clue of whats taking place under your noses; you believe ever lie these corrupted people tells you.
The majority of you are like programmed Robots; every lie becomes truth in Dominica, the truth turns to lies! You are doing everything to make it all I wrote are lies, why don’t you research to see if even half of what I said is true.
If Dragon Windows have any thing in Dominica with their name on it, it might be for storage of something, but Dragon Windows are in Barbados manufacturing their products!
        Ross in Portsmouth…

Much more prior sensitization of the public is needed, More INFORMATION PLEASE!!! While we wont call out fundamentals such as cheaper energy as key to attracting foreign investments, We can’t help but point out the lack of sensitization of the public of this initiative. At least give us a weeks notice, what was the criteria, how were the participants choosen? Who are the beneficiaries?

This is a very good opportunity for current and future entrepeneurs. Our french neighbors (France next door) are a base for markets.

The French enjoys it better here in Dominica than in any French territory. First, they know we have no law and what Little left they don’t regard because they are “French.”
The French buys a piece land to build a residential house; then they build three houses on the lot with no interference from the housing division. A true Dominican citizen can’t take that chance. Dominica may not change in many ways, but it will change where foreigners behavior and disrespect for our children and laws are concerned. WTP will usher that change. The Chinese fish and hunt irrespective of the laws concerning their seasons. And the police won’t do a thing about it. So, foreigners are breaking all our laws without fear of the police. Chinese are the police.

Many years ago, I was asked to proof read an IDA publication aimed at overseas investors. One of the businesses opportunities identified was hair braiding.

Looking at the focus of the present mission, nothing much has changed.

…and as long as we have this Skerrit government, nothing will ever change. Every two years he revisits previously talked about initiatives, talks about them again and then leave it for another two years. Prime examples amongst others: airport, geothermal, electoral reforms, etc.

Was is IDA or DDA? Because there is a huge difference. Because IDA doesnt promote “Hair braiding” as an investment opportunity. From their website i saw Tourism accommodations and tourism related services (like certified tour operations, restaurants, laundromats and supermarkets), manufacturing and agro processing, ICT and knowledge industry, Renewable energy. nothing about hair braiding.

        @ If we knew better.
I can assure you that the publication was the work of the Invest Dominica Authority. I brought hair braiding, along with other anomalies in the draft publication, to their attention.

Beyond that, my contention is that we should be developing initiatives ourselves, rather than farming them out to others.
