Joffrey Leevy

Dr. Joffrey Lionel Leevy, son of Alfred and Dorothy Leevy of St Aroment and a proud national of the Commonwealth of Dominica has earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science at Florida Atlantic University (FAU). Prior to obtaining his Ph.D., Dr. Leevy received his Bachelor of Science Degree (BSc) in Civil Engineering from the University of the West Indies – St Augustine Campus in Trinidad, a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas, and a Master of Science Degree (MSc) in Management Information Systems from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Dr. Leevy successfully defended his dissertation in May 2022 entitled “Machine Learning Algorithms for Predicting Botnet Attacks in Internet of Things (IoT) Networks”.  He accepted his Diploma on August 9, 2022, at Florida Atlantic University (FAU).  Machine Learning is the use and development of computer systems for building predictive models in Networks and analyzing and drawing references from patterns in data.  His area of research stems from the implementation of Machine Learning techniques using Artificial Intelligence (AI), Network Cyber Security, Big Data, Class Imbalance, and Data Mining.  Dr. Leevy is unique in his skillset and is trained in both computer programming and information security.  He is trained to detect fraudulent activity within the Network Intrusion Domain and loves using cutting-edge technology to solve problems.  He is very passionate about computer programming.

Dr. Leevy, a former student of the Convent Preparatory School and Saint Mary’s Academy attributes his success to hard work, remaining focused, caring teachers and mentors over the years, and tremendous support from family.  He has two brothers, Kim and McPherson Leevy, and two sisters Tara and Palesa Leevy.  His mom, Dorothy Leevy, was the Principal of the Convent High School for several years and his dad Alfred Leevy, a former principal of the Dominica Grammar School, was Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Community Development when he retired.

He has earned several awards for his achievements.  He topped the 1982 Common Entrance Results List and was Junior Spelling Bee champion for two consecutive years. Dr. Leevy has given many conference presentations and published numerous articles on Google Scholar in his field of study.  He is also a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).

He resides in South Florida with his wife Caryl and son Jaden and is currently conducting Research in Machine Learning at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) in Boca Raton, Florida.

Full congratulations Sir on your demonstrated excellence in Computer Science!!! In today’s Information Technology world where Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security rule, I pray that your extra-ordinary achievement will be an inspiration to young and not so young Dominicans to venture into this exciting, wide open and lucrative field into which I myself took a leap of faith and have been blessed accordingly.

To @ Garçon After I read your comment, I shook my head and laugh, are you really serious when you say quote, “There are thousands of us out there who wish we could have been home using our knowledge, skills and youthful energies to build our country, but the environment is not encouraging.” This is such a bogus deception, a big lie, a false assertion.

Your display of popular ignorance incorporated with partisan politics is so pathetic, pity you. As to you believing that the world need people like Dr. Joffrey Lionel Leevy because of his specific Academic achievements bestowed to him by a University is somewhat irrational, lol. Look at the world we live in today, the direction we are going and the things that are happening to the being God created, do you really think that the likes of another Dr. Joffrey Lionel Leevy is what required for our betterment as divine beings. The people who get to benefit from this are Dr. Joffrey Lionel Leevy future employers, in furtherance of their agenda.

When you look at this photo, it has the earmark of someone graduating from a Priesthood, esoteric symbolism is all over it, let’s not be symbolic illiterate, Confucius told us that, signs and symbols rule the world, not words nor laws, literacy in understanding signs and symbols should be part of our education system, so long

    Outstanding!!!
This is the reason i get mad when i hear Chinese come to Dominica tell me we incapable. The potential of our human resources is yet to be tapped too its full potential for Dominica because insecure leadership see them as a threat to thier self serving schemes.
Kudos to you a PhD earned through hard work and obviously years of personal sacrifices. One not bought in obscurity.

Where is Dr. Levy? Is he using his skills to help Dominica. The Chinese and others are here because many of our trained nationals refuse to return as they have developed an undying love for greener pastures.

Do you want the man to come to work for peanuts money and be pushed around by uneducated people who just run a seat and became a minister? Come on. When we are commenting here we need to make sense since our children read this. There are thousands of us out there who wish we could have been home using our knowledge, skills and youthful energies to build our country but the environment is not encouraging.

“Refuse to return” or is it because the country/an employer cannot afford to pay this person? Let’s be realistic.

        • August 13, 2022

Why should such highly skilled people return to Dominica with the expectation of government employment? If such is the case their qualifications is not worth a rat behind. Regardless of the government in power the vast majority of these highly skilled Dominicans will not return.

The Chinese are in Dominica, not because of our trained nationals refusal to return, as they have developed an undying love for greener pastures.

Stop being silly, who cares about your despicable self inflected madness and what is outstanding about this, lol. I will tell you this, Dr.Leevy benefited tremendously from the set of people, the human resource given to him during his childhood education, so what nonsense are you talking about human resources is yet to tapped to its full potential in Dominica because of insecure leadership, so long for your nonsense.
