Economist, Dr. Thomson Fontaine has been elected as political leader of the United Workers Party.
According to initial reports coming out of the party’s delegates conference now underway at the Goodwill Parish Hall, Dr. Fontaine beat Clement Marcellin – the only other opponent in the political leadership race- 123 votes to 79.
DNO has learnt that Clement Marcellin has been elected deputy political leader and former political leader Lennox Linton, is the new president. DNO understands that Linton’s election was unanimous Another candidate for the position of deputy political leader was Anette Sanford. She received 54 votes to Marcellin’s 142.
