An earthquake shook several islands, including Dominica, on Sunday morning.
Several people have taken to social media to say that they felt the quake.
Social media postings show it was felt across Dominica, Martinique, Guadeluope and Antigua.
According to UWI Seismic Research Centre, the quake took place at 7:22 am.
It had a magnitude of 5.0.
It epicenter was located 65 km, NNE of Roseau, 50 km SE of Point-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe, and 143 km N and Fort-de-France, Martinique.
The quake took place at a depth of 85 km.
There are no reports of damage or injuries.
We do need a shaking up in Dominica. Our people are exceedingly proud, disrespectful, dangerously ignorant, and ungodly. So yes, shake this corrupt Island to its core.
Global warming that do that.Oh no, “”climate change””
sure is not that geothermal thing they doing that playing a role. play with God still.
O my goodness , so sad! Knowledge at the time Scriptures and the words of Psalmists, Prophets and JESUS were spoken they were totally uniformed of Science , Seismology and Tectonic Plates.
Jesus himself refers to earthquakes, famine, and pestilence (Luke 21:11; par. Matt 24:7; Mark 13:8)
For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows. Got it
The Gospel of Matthew, Chapter 27, mentions that an earthquake coincided with the crucifixion: “And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split and the tombs broke open.”
Why should Il contradict, who am I ?
It is one of God’s way to warn, create stress on the Earth to cause emotional stress in rebellious men who have sidelined…
Antigua is a place prone to earthquakes; the big one I remembered the last 1970’s it did some serious damage including rending the Anglican Church at the top of New Gate Street on the hill above the old police station uninhabitable.
That’s more than fifty years ago I don’t know if it was ever repaired.
“the big one I remembered the last 1970’s”
All I intended to say is that the last big devastating one I remember was in the 1970’s.
There is nothing strange about an earthquake felt in Dominica at the precise moment it was felt in Antigua!
The reality is all due to a fault line: the earthquake was triggered by the North American tectonic plates grinding against each other in an area called the orient fault. Those so called strike-slip faults are characterized by near-vertical fractures, and horizontal movements in the earth.
Antigua and the other islands of the Eastern Caribbean do have an earthquake fault running through them all, so it is not unusual for the shaking of one island to be felt on another, it all depends on the geographic location of the epicenter!
In seismology, the epicenter refers to the part of the earth’s surface directly above the focus of an earthquake. This contrasts with the lesser-known word hypocenter, which refers to the focus itself; that is, the place of the earthquake’s origin.
Educated appreciate: idiots criticize.
Hahahahahahahahahah!
Idiots give me thumbs down!
Man respect Dominicans. Stop seeking attention!! You are DNO’s biggest ……, not the other bloggers!
If you that (ting) damn dog, no name nobody maned (me) talking to me, if you are a seismologist; and know more than I do where it pertains to seismology I challenge you to refute anything in my commentary with your scientific knowledge let the world see how educated you are.
Nothing in your shallow bush woman/man head compare to mine; again computer and smart phone don’t make people smart, they most of the time expose the ignorance, and stupidity of the fools and idiots who use them!
Silly I can be. It must be the reverberations from all the year round mega sweet concerts , year-in-year-out in the Islands. “What sweet in ah goat mout go sour in ah e ras. Aiye Dominique!!
Should not joke about this natural phenomenon. We are fortunate in these parts that we experience only mild earthquakes most of the times. Continue to protect us Father from all devastating natural phenomena.
You all take everything else and make political mileage but when the earth start to shake you getting scared. Maybe ask God for forgiveness for the obsessive hatred that you all have for politicians and focus on yourselves and your family so you can be safe if ever a disaster were to strike
@hmm
You too should do just that…And stop your politicking.
Wicked!! Give hurting people a break to express themselves. Will wicked you, do it for them?
Three times in the Book of Psalms (Psalm 2:4; 37:13; 59:8) we read that God shall laugh. The word “laugh” does not mean what we usually think of today as laughing with “joy” or “making a joke of.” It always means, “to hold in derision — to mock or to scorn effusively loud, licentious lifestyles, in your face vulgarity when a people have sidelined THE ALMIGHTY CREATOR GOD.
Whey papa Bodier. I never before heard Dominica and Antigua, the most corrupt islands in the Caribbean feeling earthquake together . I am use to Dominica, Guadeloupe and Martinique but never together with Antigua. So is it a sign that the leaders of these two Caribbean islands of Antigua and Dominica are about to enter into a boiling pot for the things they have committed together? Is this a judgment call on them? We all know these two corrupt leaders have violated a lot of international laws together and both are in the center of the Mahul Choksi investigation. So I wonder if it wasn’t their grains shaking in their pants because of fear and we thought is an earthquake
