A 41-year-old man from a community on the south of the island is remanded in custody at the Dominica State Prison following two sex-related charges preferred against him by the police.
The accused appeared before Magistrate Michael Laudat on Monday, August 15, 2022, where the charge of indecent assault and Unlawful Sexual Connection (USC) was read to him. He was not required to enter a plea as the matter is an indictable offense and is expected to be tried at the High court before a Judge and jury.
The alleged sexual acts are said to have been committed earlier this month against a female minor who is age 7 years and 11 months.
The matter was adjourned to November 29, 2022, for Preliminary Inquiry.
The police are also conducting further investigations against the 41-year-old man for alleged sexual offenses committed against two other female minors age 9 and 7.
In keeping with the section 38 of Dominica’s Sexual Offences Act of 1998, Dominica News Online (DNO) is not at liberty to disclose the name of the accused unless he is convicted at the High Court of Justice for the alleged offense.

I’m again calling on the AG mr Levi Peters, and the Min of National Security (two former Police Officers) to revisit the Sexual Offences Act and remove this dumb section of the law protecting the perpetrators of this heinous Crime, preventing their names from being published except with the blessings of the Courts; it is standard practice in these modern times to call out these monsters (pedophile) and expose them to the entire world. Whom are the framers of our laws protecting? And while we are at it sounds hash; but can’t “castration” be added to the penalty; we have to stop these animals by any means necessary, so our young and vulnerable can live their lives without fear of molestation.
If found guilty i have no problem with what you suggest. However if still in trial, you would be doing more harm than good not only to the person’s reputation but also to the case. So only publish a name if found guilty and convicted.
It is sad but he must have been influenced by those top government officials and friends of the government that’s been doing this for years but there is no law No constitution for them. All men are equal before the law. This doesn’t obtain in Dominica. Dominica is a pariah country where some people are more equal than others.
Jail will not help thats just living luxury on tax payers money cut his balls off and send him and do community service for the rest of his life

If castration were to become the punishment for this particular crime, so many Dominican men would be convicted, that Dominica would be a country of virgins.
It’s good to hear that someone is finally charged for alleged sexual offenses committed against female minors in Dominica.
To be honest I even thought the crime of child sexual abuse was legal in Dominica because of the rumors I have heard of so many men holding top positions that are involved in child sexual abuse and nothing is done to stop them.
I hope the government forms a committee to ensure those evil men around us stop raping our minors. I do hope that the committee would include the likes of Prime minister Hon Roosevelt Skerrit, Hon Vince Henderson, our CBI director Hon Emmanuel Nanthan and Hon Melissa Skerrit, wife of the Pm. I included Mrs Skerrit because as the wife of the PM she needs to be in a position to hear the names of those rapists the public is hearing of so as a woman she would be embarrassed enough to the point that as a woman she would take steps to ensure that those top men that are hiding behind titles and offices are smoked out

If found guilty, the judge should have no mercy. The psychological and other damage that is done to these innocent children is inconceivable.

That reminds me of when a former Honorable man from the south did the same thing to an underage girl and those magicians running the Skerrit judiciary ensured that he never appeared before the corrupt court of Skerrit.
