Gov’t Town Hall Meetings series to launch this week

The Government of Dominica recently announced the launch of a series of Town Hall Meetings set to commence on Thursday, January 16, 2025.

This was according to Government Press Secretary Dionne Durand-Smith through a statement.

According to her, these engagements are a reflection of the government’s commitment to transparency, inclusivity, and the active participation of citizens in the decision-making process.

The first meeting is expected to be held in Trafalgar at the Trafalgar Community Centre for residents of the Roseau Valley and neighbouring communities from 6:00 P.M.

Durand-Smith said Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, members of Cabinet, and other government officials will engage with Dominicans to address their concerns and provide updates on the government’s achievements and development plans for 2025 and beyond.

“The Government of Dominica considers that all Dominicans are key players in the development process and believes that engaging with people is fundamental to good governance,” she stated.

She continued, “Therefore, these Town Hall Meetings will be a great opportunity for government officials to hear directly from the residents of communities across the island and to consider their ideas and recommendations in building a better Dominica.”

Furthermore, she noted that additional meetings will take place in the constituencies of Salybia, Colihaut, Castle Bruce, Soufriere, Cottage, La Plaine, and Wesley.

Durand-Smith is encouraging persons who are able to attend these meetings to do so and to contribute to the discussions.

Transparency, accountability, inclusiveness, rule of law, efficiency are attributes of a good and caring government. Unfortunately, these are NOT characteristics of the Roosevelt-led tyrannical dictatorship.

A leopard cannot change its spots. Similarly, after twenty consecutive years of corruption, deception, exclusion, opacity, terrorism, the present oligarchy of Dominica cannot change its course.

As usual, just like their bogus press conferences, the primary objective of these so-called downhill meetings are to bamboozle and delude the unsuspecting and gullible people and to control the narrative in the local, complicit press.

Roosevelt, to make most conscientious Dominicans happy, take a permanent sabbatical from local politics. Retire as you had promised.
