A Grenada resident is now one million, two hundred and fifty thousand dollars ($1,250,000) richer after winning the Windward Islands Super Six Jackpot game.

Sales and Marketing Manager of the Dominica National Lottery Ken George confirmed the news to Dominica News Online (DNO) that a citizen from the neighbouring Caribbean country is the lucky winner of the draw which was held on May 17, 2022.

The unnamed/unidentified individual was able to match all six numbers, (01-09-17-18-21-23) in what appears to be one of the largest Super Six Jackpots which has been played in all four Windward Islands -Grenada, St Vincent and the Grenadines, St Lucia and Dominica.

George encouraged Dominicans to keep playing.

“I really want to urge the local players to keep playing and soon their turn will come,” he stated.

Five months ago, forty-nine-year-old Marylin Theodore of St Lucia, a former lottery agent, gained millionaire status after winning the historic mega jackpot of EC2 million dollars.

The current jackpot which will be drawn on Friday 20 May 2022 is EC$200,000.

I know two people who won million dollar jackpots. One I was a colleague at work and the other was a Dominican friend. Having said that, I know a lot more people, including myself and my wife who have never come close to hitting a jackpot.
People do win, but you really cannot get your hopes up when you buy a lottery ticket.
Where I live, I do not play the lottery unless the jackpot is north of $40 million. And if I am not in the immediate vicinity of a lottery seller, I do not go out of my way to buy lottery tickets. Let’s just say, I will not leave my house to go buy a lottery ticket. I will buy it at the gas station when I fill up or at a grocery store while I am shopping. Otherwise nada. But I know full well I am throwing my money away, but there is always that 1 in 30 million chance of winning.
To put things in perspective, I won a free ticket yesterday, but I played those numbers in December 2021.

What Ken George need to do is bring back our local lottery game so that the money can remain among our own people. How many times the big jackpots go elsewhere. I say bring back the lotto where only our people will be able to play.

What a crock……get people’s hope up by having them lose their hard earned money playing the lottery thinking one day they will hit the jackpot.

No issues in playing the lottery once in a while, but the idea that one day “their turn will come” is total BS, because for 99.99999% of the people, that will NEVER happen.

Amen! There’s good reason for the old saying that a lottery is just a tax on being bad at math.
