Five schools obtain gold so far in National Schools Arts Festival being held this week

The National Schools’ Arts Festival 2023 kicked off on Monday, March 6.

Various schools took part in different categories such as choral speech, vocal solo and choral music, and instrumental ensemble.

The results are as follows: choral speech- Convent High School – GOLD, Wesley High School – SILVER, Pierre Charles Secondary School – BRONZE, Castle Bruce Secondary School – CERTIFICATE, North East Comprehensive School – CERTIFICATE and Dominica Community High School – CERTIFICATE.

In the Vocal Solo segment: the Convent High School – Beata Vidal – GOLD, Pierre Charles Secondary School  – Kayla George – GOLD, Dominica Grammar School – Shian Sylvester  – GOLD, St. Martin Secondary School – Cawinda Castel – SILVER, North East Comprehensive School  – Ivy Joseph – SILVER, Dominica Community High School – Delreo Lewis – SILVER and Portsmouth Secondary School – Niah Massicott – SILVER.

In Choral Music: Convent High School – GOLD, North East Comprehensive School – SILVER, Wesley High School – SILVER, Dominica Grammar School – BRONZE, Dominica Community High School  – BRONZE, and Castle Bruce Secondary School – CERTIFICATE.

On day two, there was an ‘instrumental ensemble’ which resulted in two schools obtaining GOLD, namely Wesley Primary School and Paix Bouche Primary School. The Convent High School and North East Comprehensive gained silver and St. John’s Primary School and Concord Primary School received BRONZE.

The competition will continue for the rest of the week.

    A category for the Visual Arts is conspicuous by its absence.
