Canadian coach retained by Dominica Amateur Volleyball Association to up-level team skills

The Dominica Amateur Volleyball Association has announced the arrival of Brian Gavlas, a seasoned volleyball coach based in Canada. With over 35 years of coaching experience, Mr. Gavlas has worked at various levels, including coaching university teams, national teams, and overseas professionally in Europe. He will be lending his expertise to the Dominica Volleyball Association for the next six months.

Mr. Gavlas will be formally introduced to the public during a press conference on Wednesday, June 12. In preparation for his coaching stint, the Technical staff of the Dominica Amateur Volleyball Association has unveiled the male and female training squads that will be working under Mr. Gavlas.

The selected male players for training include athletes from clubs such as Sunrise Sports Club, Club One, Falcons, Young Vets, and Strikers. On the other hand, the female training squad comprises players from Acers, Celtics, Breakers, Sunrise Club, R&D, and Club One.

Training sessions for the men will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays at 5 pm, while the women’s training will take place on Wednesdays at 6 pm. This collaboration aims to enhance the skills and performance of the volleyball players under the guidance of Coach Gavlas.
