Following the introduction of its Wave Dance emblem on February 3, 2025, the Danny Faure Foundation has initiated an International Wave Dance Song Competition.
The Foundation, founded by its namesake who is a recipient of the National Geographic Society’s ‘Planetary and Leadership Award’, is dedicated to championing the Blue Economy as a pathway toward enduring global development and mirrors the universal plea for safeguarding the oceans.
This worldwide contest welcomes artists from Seychelles and beyond to create an original musical piece for the Wave Dance project, a global movement that harnesses the power of dance to bring attention to the need for ocean preservation.
Key timelines for the competition are as follows: the registration and guidelines are available online from February 17, 2025; and submissions are due by April 30, 2025.
The victor of the competition will be awarded a trophy from the Danny Faure Foundation and a monetary prize of $5,000 USD, courtesy of Africa Mosaïque Design Centre, a prominent African lifestyle and fashion company headquartered in Ethiopia.
A distinguished international jury, headed by Ambassador Patrick Victor, will assess the submissions, drawing upon knowledge from a range of cultural and artistic fields.
The initial Seychelles Wave Dance competition is planned for July 24, 2025.
