It’s official.
Trinidadian artiste, Prince Swanny, will not make it to Dominica to perform at a concert on Monday night since he was taken into custody in his country and will appear before a court on Tuesday.
He was originally expected to perform at a concert on Easter Sunday night at the Stadium Forecourt, however, upon his arrival in Dominica last Friday, he was not allowed to disembark and was flown back to Trinidad where he was arrested on arrival.
His management team cried foul over the incident and many fans were left confused on what was really going on.
Reports have surfaced that the TriniBad artiste was detained last Friday allegedly in relation to gang inquiries and gang-related activities.
According to the reports, “Ag. Cpl Durity obtained an order from the High Court which ordered “Swanny” to provide his passwords for his electronic devices and social media accounts.”
However, he failed to do so and was subsequently charged with failing to comply with a court order.
“On Saturday 8th April 2023 “Swanny” applied for leave to pursue judicial review and interim relief,” the report stated. “The interim reliefs sought were that Mr. Taryll Swan aka “Swanny” be granted bail, and his passport be returned but The Honourable Justice Madame Eleanor Donaldson-Honeywell dismissed the application. Swanny remains in custody and is expected to appear before a Port of Spain Magistrate on Tuesday 11th April 2023.”
After the artiste’s arrest in Trinidad, organizers and promoters of the concert expressed optimism that he would make it to the island to perform on Easter Monday night instead.
In a statement, they said this was based on “certain assurances” that they had received from Swanny’s management team with whom they were in constant contact.
“The artiste’s team remained confident that he would make it for a postponed show on Easter Monday, however, based on updated information from the artist’s team handling the situation, we have been advised that the artiste, Prince Swanny, is still in police custody in Trinidad & Tobago and as the promoters, we are unable to determine or decide when he will be released,” the statement said.
The promoters said they have considered several options “including, but not limited to, changing the date of the event and replacing the artiste.”
However, they said the decision remains difficult “due to the dynamic turn of events.”
As an incentive, they offered two for one entry on regular tickets and double drinks for VIP ticket holders at the show, which went on without Prince Swanny on Easter Sunday night.
“Additionally, we are undertaking to have Prince Swanny to perform at a different event at a date to be announced once it is possible to do so,” the organizers said in the release. “We are therefore advising all ticket holders of this event to hold on to your tickets as you will receive a discounted price for the next event.”
Meanwhile, this is not Prince Swanny’s first brush with law.
In October 2020, he was one of three men who were arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana for the Purpose of Trafficking.
Police said that 1.5 kilos of compressed marijuana were found in the vehicle in which they were traveling.
In July 2019, he tried to evade cops at an event where he had been billed to perform. They caught up with him and found a small quantity of marijuana.
That case was later dismissed in court.

ADMIN: Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We had it corrected.
Within a week, the promoters of this event have taken Dominica from a creative high, on the death of Alwin Bully, to a creative low with Prince Swanny.
Whoever the organisers are in Dominica give the people back the money they paid. You did not deliver what you promised and don’t claim innocence. You knew this was always a dicey deal and the risk was yours. Refund the people their money with an apology and if you don’t I hope they sue the pants off you.
Well, well now I’m hearing a female close to the P.M. may be the orchestrator of this and if true I’m not really surprised. Roosevelt, I’ve always held your downfall will be a woman and so it may well turn out to be. A man‘s virtue is marked by the company he keeps, has never been any different.
