Interests in Dominica and the rest of the Lesser Antilles should closely monitor the progress of this system and to take all preparedness action.
At 5 pm, the eye of Major Hurricane Beryl was located near latitude 11.1 North, longitude 56.5 West or about 250 miles or 400 km southeast of Barbados. Beryl is moving toward the west northwest at a slower forward speed of 18 mph or 30 km/h with maximum sustained winds now increased to near 130 mph or 215 km/h with higher gusts. A continued quick westward to west-north-westward motion is expected during the next few days. On the forecast track, the center of the system is expected to move across the southern portion of the Windward Islands early tomorrow Monday. Despite likely fluctuations in strength during the next day or two, Beryl is expected to remain an extremely dangerous Category 4 hurricane as it moves through the southern section of the island chain.
Hurricane force winds extend outward up to 30 miles or 45 km from the center and tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 115 miles or 185 km.
HAZARDS:
RAINFALL: Beryl is expected to produce rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches across Dominica. This rainfall may produce localized flooding, landslides and falling rocks in vulnerable areas.

WINDS: Beryl is expected to produce sustained winds to near tropical storm force with gusts to tropical storm force across Dominica.
SURF: Swells up to 14 ft generated by Beryl are expected to reach the Windward and southern Leeward Islands by late Sunday. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.
