Keep Walking Association (KWA) is a growing organization which has been providing free prosthetic legs to Dominicans in need.

The organization is run by three foreign nationals from France; Philippe Mancis, Eric Combe and Marc Helie- who started the KWA movement.

Helie is an amputee who came for a first mission in Dominica in 2015 accompanied by four people including two prosthesis specialists.

“We have organized a collection of old prostheses in Europe to bring them back to Dominica in order to give a free service. The inspiration came one day while on vacation in Dominica when two disabled people, one from Coulibistrie and one from Salisbury, told Marc that they would have no chance to solve their problem,” Free helper, Didier Dupuis said in an interview with DNO.

KWA is located at the Stonedge Safari Hotel in Salisbury Grand Savanna and consists of other “motivated” volunteers who have learnt to repair the prosthetics of patients when the main members return to their families in France. The Kempinski Hotel also assists in providing building material to KWA.

“Our challenge is to provide an average of 10 people per mission, but we exceed this number each time. Since the beginning, about 50 persons got prosthetic legs. I live at the Stonedge Safari Hotel where our base is located and repair and renew the socks and sleeves to have a minimum throughout the year,” he noted.

“We open really on appointments. And we try to stay at the office because when we get a print from a leg, It takes about four days – 3 days to dry and 1 day to make a fiber glass around the print,” he added.

Anyone who needs assistance can visit their Centre or call 3158437. They can also be reached via gmail at [email protected].

Honestly speaking all I could hear from Skerrit’s independence message was “Go to hell, go to hell, it’s not your damn business what I Roosevelt Skerrit of Veille case do. “ There is “No law No constitution to Stop me “ from doing what I want.
No he didn’t directly say that this time but as I read every line, every sentence, every paragraph and add what I have seen the last 18 years that’s all I could read.
