Considering how the former speaker and a couple other people who were physically challenged struggled to get up those steps, shouldn’t the organisers of this event had chosen a more accessible building or erect a temporary ramp to enable better access? What if someone was wheelchair bound, How would they be able to get up these steps? Poor planning. Has Dominica not yet implemented the UN Charter on disability?

Every Independence Anniversary should be a proud and celebratory moment for all Dominicans whose umbilical cords are buried in the soil of Dominica.

The fervour in which Dominica celebrated this momentous occasion has been severely dampened by the present sorry state of affairs in the country.

How can one celebrate unreservedly when abject poverty; police brutality; tribal politics, ballooning vagrancy; escalating criminality; widespread victimization; lack of medical, sporting and other important facilities; thievery are all now constant realities of daily life in Dominica.

Dominica has retrogressed phenomenally since the advent of Mr. Skerrit to the apex of political power. Insufferable pain and misery are the ever-present companions of 99.9% of resident Dominicans.

Take back your country Dominicans from those who elevate foreigners while making your life a living hell of misery.
