In prep for foreign direct investment, this move can have an accompanying multiplier effect even before the geothermal dust settles. With the exception of the proposed int’l airport which I think American airlines has proved is not really needed at this time, this buy-back and hopefully a geothermal plant; the man has elevated himself to the level of a Pharoah.

What is there to shout about? this Administration believe that every action taken on behalf of the citizens of this country is a favor being done by them and calls for some celebration of sorts, like I heard Ian Douglas say. This recalcitrant Government instead of letting people like Sam get away with $6 million and Simeon, Krazy and others enjoy free money; should have made tangible investment with our monies in more viable industries (like our sister island of Barbados did) would put us in better economic standing which would take us away from the present begging attitude adopted by Roosevelt Skerrit.
Skerrit, once again lots of propaganda but no substance. How much did the government have to pay for the 52% majority stake? How ist this majority stake being financed? Did you make provisions for this purchase in the current budget or does the money come from one of those secret bank accounts? Finally I would like to mention, I hope this company will be better run than that other government owned failure by the name of DOWASCO. Years of underinvestment have reduced it to a pure joke. I feel in 10 years we might have to say the same for Domlec with Skerrit in charge. After all, this PM is known for incompetence and corruption. Is the ordinary Dominican going to benefit from the new ownership? I doubt it and that is true for the immediate and for the long future. Why are these statements being delivered by Skerrit as a virtual ‘address to the nation’ rather than a live statement in front of citizens and the press with questions invited after the statement? I rest my case.

This guy is so predictable. Here he comes with his ‘grand announcement’ that amounts to no benefit for most of the citizens and residents. The only objective for this announcement to be aired on the compliant media so hurriedly is solely to distract from the sting of the ‘WALK’.
The WALK was a success although it was done at the worst time of a working day. At that time of the day, too many patriots who are willing to participate, are working, students are at school and the weather is inconvenient ( sun is out in all its glory, sapping the energy especially of the elderly).

How can a Dominican find work in Montserrat, and Antigua; the 108 square mile island, and cannot find work on a 305 square mile island Dominica?
