[Loop News] US citizens urged to reconsider travelling to Jamaica

The United States is urging citizens to reconsider travelling to Jamaica due to the crime situation and also prohibited government personnel from travelling to many areas due to increased risk.

In a travel advisory, the US State Department has given the island, the sixth most popular Caribbean cruise destination, with roughly 1.66 million visitors annually, a Level 3 warning of the four-tier system, with only Level 4 “Do Not Travel” considered a more urgent warning.

As a Caribbean national based in the US, I try to stay on top of the crime situation in our region and the world at large.

This type of advisory is nothing new but is certainly more detrimental to tourism dependent countries.

One thing is certain. Discretion and common sense are key to deciding when and where to travel to ensure preservation of personal safety, peace and general well being.

Hello and good afternoon my people. Why don’t the Jamaican Prime Minister tell the American government to look into the mirrow. Every other day there is a mass shooting in America ,Florida and Texas is full over crime. I spent a week in Houston and on Friday night six people were shot dead so America look into the mirrow. It’s like their rule based other system except the rules don’t apply to America.

The United States has issued this travel advisory to its citizens about visiting Jamaica because of the chaotic crime situation there.

Jamaica, and all the other Caribbean countries should issue a travel advisory to their citizens who are planning to travel to the US because of the inordinate number of mass shootings in recent times.
