An annual allocation of $2 trillion is required for developing countries to respond to the effects of climate change, says Professor Avinash Persaud, Special Envoy to the Prime Minister (Barbados) for Investment and Financial Services.
He was among recent forum participants during which the collective call was for a global coalition to fund climate mitigation and adaptation.
“That number is bigger than any developing country’s balance sheet. It’s beyond all the philanthropists. It’s a big number. Climate change is caused by human activities and the burning of fossil fuels.SOME of these changes may be natural. The change in temperature on planet earth is mostly caused by human beings and their greed. The last count,Dominica had 38,501 registered vehicles. We have destroyed thousands of trees to build structures, and there is hardly a place to shelter the sun on the banks of our rivers.
“…There is hardly a place to shelter the sun on the banks of our rivers ” ? It must looks so from where you are. I think you simply need to come home and visit a river, any river, I bet you’d change that statement Lin clown.
Guess who will smile like the grinch that stole christmas when he reads this? Anything for a free dollar that the people will never see or have a say in how it is spent.

I have heard many Caribbean leaders pontificate on this phenomenon of Climate Change. Reading between the lines of their presentations it is how they can cash in on the windfall of money coming their way.
Look at their actions compared to their words on this issue. They are incongruous. Most of these tax and spend governments are in grave financial difficulty. They need a bailout.
@Roger Burnett – Very good observation. I agree.

If it wasn’t for Caribbean governments thinking they could make some money out of it, I doubt that we’d hear a thing about climate change.
And what if they make some money out of a situation imposed on them by external forces that a few of us privileged think is needless to pick a fight with?
@Just Asking – Hold awhile there. Are you implying that this concept of Climate Change is solely something humans being have caused….something the richer nations have caused that has been imposed on poorer nations?
Sir/Madam, can you point out to me when since time immemorial was the earth’s climate ever designed or supposed to remain in a static unchanging state?
Hasn’t the earth’s climate ALWAYS been in a state of change?
Details details, now isn’t this for flat-earth people to answer?
