$167,000 contract signed for construction of bridge in Castle Bruce

Victor Roberts (l) and Denise Edwards (r) sign the contract

Minister for Agriculture and Member of Parliament for the Castle Bruce constituency, Johnson Drigo, has revealed that a new bridge in the Senhouse area of the village of Castle Bruce will be constructed at an estimated value of $167,243.93 dollars.

The contract was signed on Wednesday, August 16 at the Ministry of Housing Conference room and was awarded to contractor, Victor Roberts, who is from that village.

The contract was signed, on behalf of the government,  by Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Public Works and Ports, Denise Edwards.

Drigo, in his brief remarks, stated that considering that the government had successfully completed a number of projects in the areas of GoodHope, SanSauveur and Petite Soufriere, much focus can now be placed on the construction of this bridge in Castle Bruce. He expressed confidence in the ability of contractor Roberts to handle the task.

“We have completed a number of roads in the Petite Soufriere area and having completed three box culverts in Good Hope, a major culvert in the SanSauveur area, and several interventions in Petite Soufriere, we can now give attention to the Senhouse Bridge. I am happy to day that a contract is about to be awarded to mister Victor Roberts to the tune of one hundred and sixty-seven thousand two hundred and forty-three dollars and ninety-three cents for the Senhouse Bridge in Castle Bruce,” Drigo said.

According to the minister, the duration of the project is expected to be four months during which time the community of Castle Bruce will experience some challenges.

“On Thursday next week I will meet with the Castle Bruce community to discuss with them the inconvenience that will be caused during the construction of this bridge,” Drigo stated.

Despite these challenges, Drigo said that he knows the community is very happy with the oncoming developmental project knowing that their concerns regarding the safety of their children can now be addressed.

“The concerns that we had on the safety of our children having to cross this bridge, which can be covered at any time during heavy rains and which we have lived with for over fifty-five years, is rapidly becoming a thing of the past,” the Castle Bruce MP said.

“Senhouse area of the village of Castle Bruce will be constructed at an estimated value of $167,243.93 dollars.”

How come Roosevelt Skerrit found people in Dominica to build certain bridges in the country. most likely to be washed away when the first moment of the river overflowing?

Is it not strange the building of this so called bridge cost peanuts change after we saw so many millions of our nations tax payers dollars went to the Barbadian’s for the building of a bridge to nowhere which could be built by Dominica natives?

To the idiotic supporters of Roosevelt, before you decide to go crazy and give the thumbs down, be reminded long prior to Mr. Mountain Chicken Carpaud Mentality Skerrit, Dominicans built the old Bridge over the Roseau River, as well as the one in recent years which we called the “New Bridge.

      Continue:

Those were built in the colonial days, when the country run by a British Administrator, and a local legislative council; yet the British did not import English men to engineer any of the two, or any bridge for that matter in Dominica! Roosevelt Skerrit has ignored and shattered the confidence in our local civil engineers!

What happen to all the Cuban, and China trained engineers we have in Dominica, has Skerrit no confidence in the he sent to train in Cuba, and China?

They spent $18000000 on the best bridge in the world. With $18000000 we could build one hundred and seven bridges at $167000. we in Elmshall need a bridge too.
