17 Dominican medical specialists to return to serve

Dechausay

Acting Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Dr Adrien Dechausay has announced that 17 specialized medical doctors will be returning to Dominica to provide their services at the national hospital which is now being constructed by the Chinese.

He made the announcement at a recently held press conference.

“The Ministry of Health is pleased to announce that there are quite a number of persons who have been undergoing training in various Universities in the region and beyond the region, and we are talking about those in training and [who] have been trained in Canada, within the region from the University of Cuba and the University of the West Indies,” Dr. Dechausay said. “There are approximately 17 persons actually, who will be returning – doctors trained in Post-Grad training returning to lend their services once [they are] engaged in the Ministry of Health.

The Acting CMO said that on a number of occasions, persons requiring specialized services, would have to travel overseas to access such services if they are not available locally.

“The Ministry of Health health, in its foresight, is extrapolating the idea that you need to train a new cadre of health-care providers so that you can better attend to your much needed population in the areas where we have been lacking  that particular expertise,” he stated.

I hope they get the proper equipment to work with. Having the expertise with no equipment will make no sense.

What does this statement mean? Does the acting CMO understand what he is saying? May I inform him no doctor is trained in post graduate training, I am sincerely hoping that this is a typographical error and the “learned” gentleman did not say that, It makes us a laughing stock and I call on admin to delete the comment. Doctors get post graduate training in specific fields, be it Opthalmology, like Doctor Hazel Shillingford, Paediatrics as Dr Rhonda Mc Intyre, ENT as Dr Irvine Pascal, but they will all tell you that though they received post graduate training they were not trained in post graduate training, there is no such training entity. There are approximately 17 persons actually who will be returning, Doctors trained in Post-Grad training returning to lend their services once engaged in the Ministry of Health.

“Doctors trained in Post-Grad training returning to lend their services once engaged in the Ministry of Health. ”

Something is wrong here, but who to tell, maybe it is his Dominica English, or I am simply dumb, but something in the quote above does not make sense!

Post graduate training relates  to a course of study undertaken after completing an undergraduate degree.

Post-graduate (noun): An undergraduate  student engaged in a postgraduate course of study.

They so stupid and lie, they are not even aware of the nonsense they talk.

An undergraduate is a student at a college or university who has not yet earned a bachelor’s or equivalent degree!

We do not wish to hear all that crap, people’s educational accomplishments are their own; the only people who may live on their accomplishments are their family. Dominicans want to hear about jobs, and job creation; Dominicans need personal employment!

Can you get some updated statistics on the unemployment rate and the level of poverty? Can you comment on underemployment , the minimum wage, civil servants’ salaries? Can you articulate reasons for no international track & field stadium? Can you airport nor cruise facilities? Can you vocalise reasons for no international airport, modern port facilities, international cricket matches and sporting completions? Under the Sherrit- led autocracy, Dominica has been reduced to a graveyard. The country is in an undeniable rearward state.

We will believe it when we see it! Too many promises are being made again as it is pre-election time. We have learned from all those previous pre-election promises that never materialised.

I know of one that had to start at the start pf April. At least that was what they told her. Today is April 12. Nothing yet. No word no nothing and she is a real life Dr. that has specialized in her field of medical practice. Not the kind/type that is given a title for reading a speech that he didnt even write.

He is inexperienced but from personal experience knows that the certification is just the start.Their real value wont peak before ten years of practice. Also how many will leave or be shoved out.
