Hundreds of Dominicans turned out to participate in Community Day of Service activities all around Dominica on Monday, November 5, 2012.
The day is usually observed on the 4th of November. However, National Day of Community Service was moved to November 5 because Independence Day, November 3, fell on a Saturday this year.
While communities could engage in any project that they chose, the Government provided financial assistance totaling $150,000 to urban and village councils and improvement committees to specifically undertake clean-up and beautification projects.
If you have photos of any activities which were undertaken in your village/community on Monday, please send them to DNO and we will publish them.
Below are photos some projects which were undertaken on Monday.
We will be adding more photos soon.

Good job folks, but where is then money to continue the up keep? In the past the governments use to give material and so forth, now this out of ideas government sent folks to do stuff on their own. Why why such hype once a year and the place bushy n nasty? This government surely don’t drive around in daylight n without tinted tinted windows, soon they are unaware of the environment. Perhaps, these ministers, all their PS and so called big shots should work for no paynn give the money to the country. Oh yes, when next they make a profit from creole fest, they will give councils stuff like before. But its no secret that they control the village councils too, soon what domu expect.
Oh don’t forget to send de mayor n his troops to clean Roseau with Clorox n disiclean……. cause d city will soon b covered wit trees just like de palace. Maybe the mayor wanna build a mansion worth 200,million on river street? Or under de lions by de bridge.

It’s funny how little we comment on the good that is done around the island. For those still willing to promote the island’s good …Job Well Done!
good work keep it up we can and will build Dominica together.
god work keep it up we can and will build Dominica
Nice! Always loved national day of community service.
good work people keep it up.
So nice to see communities working together – love it!
Nice to see people doing community service. But let’s educate the volunteers. By cutting the grass on slopes where it exposes the bare soil, only continues the cycle of erosion, as rain and run off will wash away the unprotected top soil, right back into the drains that are being cleared.
It’s nice to see that a lot of people took part in community service day, but I would like to see people Continue to take interest in their community and keep it clean at all times, which will help keep community morals up and have a clean environment for everyone to live.
