The ‘Look-Us’ band has released a new song ‘Dominica Overcome’ in an move to provide inspiration as the island struggles to cope in the wake of Tropical Storm Erika.
Attorney- at- Law Ronald Charles, who is also a member of the band, told Dominica News Online (DNO) that the song, which is already hitting the local airwaves, was composed by him, performed by lead singer, Jerd Dorsette and produced by Alie Rolle of Epic Lab Studio located in Roseau.
He continued, “On Wednesday (2nd September) I sat down in the morning and decided that I am going to put a song together to try and bring some hope and compassion, love and to spread some hands, so I decided to just put the words together.”
Charles said that after writing the lyrics, he met with Dorsette in order to put the song together.
“We actually did release the song for the day,” he explained.
He noted that there were emotional moments while the song was being recorded in the studio.
“Even the lead singer , Jedd when he was singing the song many times he would have to stop feel a little emotional then had to go back and try to finish the song.
“It was very touching for everybody,” Charles stated.
He said that proceeds from the song will be used to help children affected by the storm. A webpage or Facebook page will be launched as the band sets up a ‘Look Us’ Fund. For the children.
Dorsette, the band’s lead singer, said the band found it necessary to come together and help those who have lost. The singer said he likes to inspire others and give hope.
The band plans to release a video for the song.
‘Look Us’ is a seven-member band that originated in Trafalgar. It has been in existence for over 15 years.

Good job sir! Reminds me of ” candle in da wind” sang by ekton John for princess Dianna.
So touching! Listened to it several times and each time I got goose bumps.
Love it; great lyrics, beautiful rendition, very timely, however the song might be more meaningful if the word Ericka is included. Not sure I heard it. Just my thoughts
You have a good point that Erika, was not mention in the song. However, since the name did not mention, that song can be used by anyone , country or whomever that have had such disaster by just substituting their country name instead of Dominica.

“Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.” – Dale Carnegie

Beautiful song. So touching! Great job guys.
Massive Song. Timely in these difficult times
To God be the glory. My family thank God for inspiring you to put this song together. We are confident that whilst the message needs to be put into practice , it should also serve as a call to repentance. God visited this disaster upon Dominica as a warning ; first to those of us of the household of faith and second to th population at large . If this does not bring about the change that God is mercifully and lovingly urging , then a greater catastrophe may well follow. God’s Spirit shall not always strive with man declares the Holy Scriptures. Today if you hear His voice , harden not your heart, tomorrow might be too late. Most Dominicans have heard the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. ” Jesus Christ, God the Son, died on the cross for our sin. He was buried, rose from the dead and is now seated at the right hand of The Father in heaven .” On hearing this, if you believe it in your heart and ask Him to save you He will. Thank God for this disaster. It is a blessing.
