You that clown Dodds blah blah blah, you appear to be in a time warp. We are not impressed with all your bragging and hogwash about your ‘good life’ in America. This is not the 1960’s. Many of us have travelled to various countries including North America and we know the realities. We are not starving in Dominica nor are we a nasty people. The young people in the photo are on the beach, so are dressed accordingly. Maybe a ‘country bookie’ like youself would dress in a suite and tie to go to the beach to show how ‘rich and educated’ you are! All you do is spew negativity about Dominica and call people disgusting names. However, your negativity and name calling merely reflects your state of mind. If you hate Dominica so much, why are you always on DNO minding Dominica’s business? If you are an example of an ‘educated’ individual, God help us. We are so Glad you left Dominica. We await your usual mauvais Lange sal.

Our heartfelt sympathies to the O’Neal Williams family.

The Dominica Cadet Corps Medical Unit has been providing free lifesaving training to the public. We intend to go to every school, every church, every organization, place of business. It takes 4 minutes without oxygen for the for brain to start dying. Every person, even those who can’t read should know how to save a life before ambulance arrives. By then, its usually too late…

Its a picture after the body was retrieved from the water, the individual is already deceased. Emergency personnel are merely checking his vitals for confirmation. You’re making neagtive assumptions…

From the picture I can see the responder with his hands in a position to give chest compression. His stance is incorrect

  9. This is a very unfortunate and sad event, especially for the grieving family of this young man. It is rather sad to see some comments relating to the legs/feet of the onlookers instead of sympathy and condolences to the family and friends of the recently deceased. It is enough to make us wonder about what’s happening with the hearts and minds of the Dominican people. It appears that people are becoming more heartless and numbed in the face of death and tragedy here on Island. They circulate the image of a dead decapitated baby on Whatsapp and other Social Media entities having casual discussions and even making jokes about it. Is this not enough to make right-thinking Dominicans realize that something is extremely wrong with our people? Many seem to have fell under a spell of callousness, extreme violence and selfishness…caring only for themselves and immediate family members! The abuse of children remains prevalent and violent murders are now normal occurrences.

You got a lot of thumbs down for that question because they do not understand what is portrayed in the picture is one example of the poverty in which those people live.

Even if they were on the beach bathing I doubt such attire would be their bathing trunks! This is a Sunday afternoon, the area where they are is less than ten miles from the so called city of Roseau, even in the 1950’s we did not have such poverty in Dominica.

If it is one thing I remember; people were always clean and nicely dressed! Remember the Gay Lords song in which there is a line: “mama and papa dressed in their Sunday best.” Greg Barnise was singing about a bit of poverty too, but it was nothing as we have today in the twenty-first century.

If I remember correctly the title of the song is Lovely Dominica.

Francisco shut up. You are too negative and arrogant. I live in the area and these people are on the beach close to the sea and from your vantage point in the US stop criticizing and bringing down our people. Show some love you ever knowing individual. Very disrespectful. Politics have you people turning to monsters and cannot say anything positive. Wake up Francisco.

      • ??????.....
        June 6, 2016

Can’t you see is their boxer shorts? They prefer these instead of the bathing trunks . When you do not know, say nothing. Young men here do not like the normal bathing trunk Francisco; they prefer those and we are not poor. When will you get that sir great disrespectful Francisco?

      • Amarossa
        June 6, 2016

Francisco, what do you suggest they wear as swim trunks? “Sliders?” Or as you probably know it in California now, “tighty-whities?”

        Stupes!

SIR, please TRY to make your comment a little seasoned. Many folks care less about bathing trunk, I can afford them, and mostly use a short pants. Please ask God to help u and let go of that anger and pain ,u must have been wronged a lot in life ,but holding unto it hurts u over and over ,I have read lots of your comments and tried not to say anything but I hope that u don’t take it badly, because I speak to u with much respect knowing that we ALL have something in our lives to work on .so let’s all ENCOURAGE EACH OTHER…….peace …and God bless

You claim to be so informed so let me rearrange your ignorance. Your inability to use technology impedes your ability to properly assess and observe. Zoom in on the picture if you can, you’ll see that one guy, left has a Jordan sandal, the one in the middle has a Nike sandal and the one to the right has yet another Jordan sandal. Doesn’t look poor to me. And I’m writing this on a smartphone. Maybe you don’t know what a smartphone is. Stop your politicking, get your head out of under you, and make sensible comments or just plain shut up. Freedom of speech doesn’t mean that should talk constantly or say just about anything.

You that question mark no name Dumbinican there what do you want me to wake up to: the poverty overrunning the country?

I live with my eyes open, and see starvation, in the day when life was good those half naked people wearing those dirty short pants would not be in the streets.

I am sure they would be dressed going to the Carib cinema to see some movie, even if it was their parents last twenty-cents they would get it and dress up in their Sunday best to go and rush in pit to get in to see the movie, and pray when the tickets numbers are called by Langley, or Royer theirs would be the winner, and they would get another free ticket for the move next Saturday or Sunday.

Hard as it was then, people did not go into the streets looking dirty and nasty. I don’t care how much to tell me to shut-up (I doh intend to and you duh can make me eh), even if you no name question mark try!

        Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahh!

Do not judge, so that you may not be judged. For with the judgment you make you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get. Why do you see the speck in your neighbor’s eye, but do not notice the log in your own eye? Or how can you say to your neighbor, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ while the log is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your neighbor’s eye.

You seem to have forgotten how Roseau or Woodbridge Bay, was and looks right now. You also seem to have forgotten the distance between The Woodbridge Bay and Roseau.

The young boys were having fun, what Sunday best you want them to put on, to bathe in the sea.
You are ignorant of the youth preferences, you are an American now. If you want to learn Dominica’s culture, take a vacation from your palace, and step into the Nature Isle of the Caribbean, then you can see how POOR the people…

      • Setup
        June 28, 2016

I was born and raised in Roseau, and I saw many people walk dirty, and drunk in Roseau. I saw people with tuberculosis, malnutrition…. etc. I see man foaming at the mouth(chimaying) (barvaying) dribbling. The poorest ones used to go by the riverside and throw their chamber pot (pot-cham). Many people had no pipes in their yard, and they collectedwater from the public stand pipes. When people came to Roseau, relieved themselves at the public convenience on the bay front. Now a fixture in the sea. You either left Dominica for too long, or stayed overseas for too long.

Just because you make more money than some Dominicans, don’t make you better than them.

Are you sure there are NO poor people where you live. When the rich die where do they go? When the poor die where do they go? Can the rich take their riches to the grave with them. If so, you will carry your gold mine with you then.
Conceit is a queer disease ,it makes everyone Sick, except the person who…
