Kertiste”Palas” Augustus came from a period when people gave selflessly to serve humanity and society, unlike today when greed and nepotism are the order of the day. Kertiste dedicated his life’s work to the simple and little people of the region. He served Dominca well even to the end of his days on the terra firma. I hope that something will be named in honor of his selfless service to the development of ordinary folks through trade unionism. Rest in peace.

I don’t remember having a conversation with this man, but I’ve known him growing up as a young man. I’ve always viewed him as a decent human being and a true Dominican with respect for people.

I was visiting Dominica quite recently and Mr. Augustus got into the bus which I was sitting in at a bus stop in Roseau. I recognized him immediately although I had not seen him in decades. We traveled together on the bus and he got off at the deep water harbor. Such a decent man he was, in my estimate. My condolences to his family and friends. “We come, then we go.” Let’s hope in God’s mercy.

Sympathies to the family of Kertiste Augustus. He contributed significantly to the labour movement in Dominica. He fought the good fight, now he has been taken to his rest.

DNO, each time you make a death announcement, you MUST inform the public if the person took the “vaccine” prior to death.
A massive rise of deaths since a few months… you can not say that you did not notice that, right ?

I remember him quite vividly in the 70’s, as he walked to work, wearing his afro and bell-bottom. Condolences to his family and friends.

May his soul rest in peace. Two of our past great footballers left us in the same week. I remember him as Pallas, a humble man. I always think we should retire from work while we can still walk around and kick the dirt, to make way for the youth; rather than go straight from a working life to bed. RIP Curtis, gone too soon.

Such a strong, no nonsense man when it came to workers rights. He demeanor demanded respect throughout. This is a hugh loss for Dominica, a void has been created and I am not certain who would have the fortitude and tenancy to carry on his legacy

Condolences to the family and members of WAWU. Another son of the soil and fighter for the people, has left us much too soon. Although you’re no longer with us, you will never be forgotten. Your character and representation of workers speaks for itself. S.I.P Sir.
