A collision involving two vehicles occurred on a section of road at Grand Savanne, Salsibury last night (Friday April 27, 2019), according to information reaching Dominica News Online (DNO).
According to the reports, one of the vehicles caught fire.
The reports also indicate that there was an explosion shortly after the accident.
DNO was later informed that the road, which was blocked to vehicular traffic as a result of the accident, was cleared a little more than two hours later.
We have received no information about the occupants of the vehicles and whether any one was injured in the accident.
Positive Criticism….DNO cannot afford to have reporters all over the island,to give us instant news.If DNO ask us to pay something to post our comments, are you willing to contribute.?
What kind of foolish idea is this? DNO benefits from our visits to its site and even more so, our comments on its blog!
No one is asking DNO for “instant news” but everyone wishes that DNO would be a responsible, impartial, non-tabloid, and non-partisan online news source. Simple! DNO, like Q95, has re-written the definition of journalism to favour one political party, it would seem.
You are distorting the truth. DNO is no partisan news organization, not even close. They published speeches and presentations unfiltered from both sides of the political divide. People like you, Peeping Tom, get superlative pleasure from denigrating and slandering people and enterprises that cannot be politically manipulated. Mischievous, miniature, idle mind!
To give credence to DNO’s impartiality, supporters of the UWP have also accused DNO of favoring the DLP. DNO must be doing something right if they are accused by supporters of both political sides.
Agreed! Most media houses are struggling to keep their heads above water with the advent of social mafia. DNO tries to be abreast with current events despite so many constraint. Give them a break. The easiest thing in the world is to criticize. Even a fool does this well at times.
DNO can only report the breaking news that it get’s at the moment and they always say until further notice. so be a bit more tolerant with the sight. They are doing the best they can.WE have been more tolerant with a useless gov’t for 19 years, hence most of the problems in the society like lack of proper infrastructure, corruption, lawlessness to name a few and a lot of people are OK with that.We seem’s to have a set of misplaced priorties.
You see those reconditioned vehicles not safe but Skerrit then having people drive them because people cannot import newer vehicles with this crazy taxes which are over 100% !!
There are no reconditioned vehicles. That is just a euphemism that is used for used vehicles. Got that from a certified mechanic.
Thanks for the clarification.
I’ve telling people the same thing for ages now. (and I am a highly certified Road Transport Engineer )
Where’s the fire truck?? I’m seeing folks with their cell phones taking pictures but no one is attending to the fire…
Should there a person or persons trapped in the vehicle it’s ok..they are being cremated…SAD…
why you doh go in the fire and pull them out?
I get more feeds on social media (WhatsApp and Facebook) than DNO. You guys should get all the info/ Facts before writing your story. Additionally. There’s no follow ups to inform readers about a particular story. Very mediocre reporting.
ADMIN: There is some validity in your comment and we will always aim to do better.
Please understand, whether or not we put out the news immediately or wait on official reports there will still be criticism.
Official reports can sometimes take days and unlike the social media posts you receive such information is investigated and verified.
We do regularly put out follow ups but these too are affected by the circumstances described above.
Let’s all hope that the people involved at least escaped with their lives. We all have to be careful on the road as the very life that is saved might be our very own. Don’t drink and drive nor drive and drink. Obey the speed limit and all the other traffic rules.
Padna you are talking to deaf people. I was in DA a couple months ago and the amount of reckless driving I saw would make you cringe. Motorists have not regard for their or other people’s safety. They are in a kind of hurry I could not understand (because I know our people are not typically in any hurry to do anything else).
Zandoli, where are the police to enforce the traffic rules. What about legislation to severely penalize motorists for violating speed limits and for reckless driving on public roads. Sometimes it becomes necessary to enact legislation to save people from themselves. These laws should also be strictly enforced. Two be problems in this country are lack of maintenance and failure to enforce laws already on the books.
