Tragedy in Antigua

ANTIGUA A Dominican family in Antigua lost their son in a flood Saturday afternoon.

According to reports, the mother allegedly left her 14-year-old daughter and three-year-old son home to run an errand.

After the mother left, heavy rains came suddenly, prompting the daughter to take the initiative to catch rain water as Antigua was experiencing a drought.

It is further alleged that the three-year-old ran outside the house into the rain to play. He was allegedly standing next to the gutter, which is about 15 feet away from the house, when an object hit him and he fell into the gutter.

He was swept away from Tindale Road to the Gray’s Farm Bridge.

Police pulled him from the murky waters. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The parents of the deceased are Dominicans.

Police are investigating.

I think “Woman of God” and “Anonynous” are playing with people. However, as much as I like a good laugh, I really do not believe news like that call for comedic relief!.

It is typical of humans to “make” someone pay for any mishaps. I am certain if it were possible God would be the victim of many lawsuits. No one is to be blamed here – I commend the young lady for making that very responsible move to collect water for the family. If you ask me, she is more mature than many grown ups i know. She could not foretell the incident so there is no need to point fingers at her. It was a rather unfortunate incident and at this point the most we can do is support the mourners in the best way possible. For those who can offer up petitions to God on their behalf do so, those who are within reach may give a hug and shed a tear with them etc.

But please, stop playing judge, ONLY GOD holds that title and the last time i checked he was still on his throne. Have a heart of compassion like Jesus. Remember that Christ said “my Father did not send me to condemn the world, BUT to save” – and he further stated, “As my Father sent me, so I send you”. So stop puffing up your spiritual selves in comparison to others as if you were the ones who hung on that cross –

Stop throwing your “I am readys” into people’s faces and instead allow the love and compassion of Christ that is within you to draw them to a place of “READINESS” passing judgement does quite the opposite.
AND YES! I am a follower of JESUS Christ – am i perfect – absolutely not. But the love and grace of GOD (which abounds for all) sustains me – In Paul’s very word “it is because of His grace, I am what i am”. And the same goes for all those who receive His grace.

Finally, if you want to show the Christ in you operate in LOVE. please note, love does not gloat over other people’s sins, it is not selfish, it is not proud, not rude and does not keep record of wrongs. Above all, even if you give away everything you own and you prophesy, understand all mysteries and you don’t have love YOU ARE NOTHING! (1 cor 13)

    Be blessed all.

I just hope that the authorities don’t try to blame the mother for this, welfare might want to call it child negligence. As for the sister she was doing the right thing cause these places don’t get water like DA. Dominica News Online should try to keep in touch and see what happens to this family after this. RIP son…your time has come…my heart goes out to the family.

If you were woman of God that you claimed to be, you would know that capital letters are used when writing the manes of the supreme beings. A little knowledge in grammar and punctuation wouldn’t hurt either.

That being said, don’t be a typical Dominican and go running off at the mouth when you do not have the facts. Being a parent, I know that you could turn your head away for one second from your child and something happens. Lots of accidents happen when children are in the care of their own parents. My heart goes out to this family in this time of tragedy and more so to the sister. I know she must be suferring inside…

If you truly consider yourself a “Woman of God” you should have thought about your words before voicing your opinion in the selfish and judgmental way you did. Did you ask yourself whether or not the sister could have drowned, had she attempted to save her little brother? The mother still has a lot of reasons to be thankful.

We all have our scheduled appointment with “DEATH” which is 100% guaranteed. When and how we depart this “TEMPORARY” life on earth, is totally up to the Almighty. Young and pretty or old and ugly.

My consolences to the family of the little angel who so tragically lost his life; his sister was doing what any intelligent and caring child would have done, tring to help out her parents by collecting some water, remember this region is going through a drought. She was only trying to help but when people like “woman of God try to blame her, it is pure ignorance.

Are you really a woman of God? As far as I am concerned you can take your condolences and shove it. Foolish woman

If being as pea-brained as many our you so-called Christians determines me going to heaven, then hell, here I come. It was Ghandi who said that he hated Christians but loved their Christ. You all are so unlike your Christ it’s not funny. Maybe instead of sitting around on DNO looking for an opportunity to preach doom and gloom and foretell the coming of Christ, you should all spend a little time in your bible, on your knees and going out into your communities to feed the poor like your Christ would do.

Know your Christ and be of some use to your community.

Please DO NOT make the sister feel worse than she already is; the little boy may have gone out without his sister noticing or she didn’t have time to rescue him. Hi mother, My condolences goes out you all on the mishap. please don’t blame the child, she was doing just what anyone would have done, base on the circumstances.Remember water is a necessity. And my there mother, be comforted. your son is in the arms of his savior Jesus Christ. He was the one who said let the little children come unto me and do not send them away, for of such is the Kingdom of Haven. Your innocent boy is in Haven. It is up to you and your daughter, to make Jesus Christ your Savior and Lord. Just as your son’s time came, our time is going to also. But just remember There’s hope beyond this life. you will see your son one day. Just remember, Jesus Christ is that only way. God bless you..

      April 28, 2010

      i
usually read the news on DNO because as a mother of three young children it is very difficult to keep abreast with every thing that happens.I usually read the comments but never post, however It saddened me to hear of the death of this infant. My daughter will be 3 very soon and I could never bear the thought of not having her with me. I cannot say that I understand the loss, but as a mother, I can just imagine. On another note: to “the woman of God”. A lot of the time persons tend to believe that just because they go to church, are “saved”etc that gives them a right to think they hear from God, do you honestly think that at such a time youi should be blaming a child for the death of her brother? Yes she is old enough to take care of the child for a short while, but children are children. Sometimes in taking care of my own children, I turn my back for half a minute and if I am not careful, the crazy things that my kids do that endanger their lives is too much to talk about. I am not blaming the mom but children don’t take care of children. The 14 year old I am sure was doing her best but she is only a child not a mother. And so the natural instinct that a mother would have is lacking.
But to the family, take courage and have faith knowing that your child has been spared from the cruelty of this world and that he is at peace with God in heaven and looking down at you guys. Please accept my deepest sympathies

there are so many comments that are posted on DNO that are utterly IRRESPONSIBLE and sometimes (like Woman of God’s) SICK. The 14 yr old was being quite responsible…there is NO WAY she could have known what would happen. I hope she NEVER has to see these comments posted on DNO….

DNO – if you are really moderating these comments, you should use your initiative to NOT post the SICK and irresponsible ones. This tragedy could affect the surviving child FOR LIFE…
