In spit of the difficulties, Digicel Haiti is still providing domestic and international phone service.

Digicel, the leading mobile operator in Haiti with more than two million subscribers, lost two of its 800-plus employees, including a senior manager, in the quake. However, their main office in Port-au-Prince was spared.

According to a Wall Street Journal report, Digicel’s engineers are trying to add capacity to the network to address traffic congestion problems.

The company is contributing $5 million in relief aid.
