Fire destroys house in La Plaine

The fire in progress last night

A fire destroyed a house belonging to Mary “Ma Gaybe” Jno Baptiste in La Plaine on Saturday night..

It is reported that a fan in one of the rooms started the fire but Dominica News Online (DNO) is unable to confirm this.

Two individuals were home at the time of the fire but no injuries were sustained.

Details are sketchy at this point but DNO will bring more information as it becomes available.

    Sister Mary,
I know you are a woman of faith. God has a way of turning around the devil’s plan– what he meant for bad, the Lord will turn into a blessing for you and your family.
He takes care of His own and rest assured that He will work it through. Be blessed and keep your head up high. God will continue to fight your battle and see you through.

My dear sister I can`t tell you that I know what you are going through because I have never being in that situation, but I can imagine what it is to have lost an investment like that. But in any case the best part is that no one got hurt.the word of God says in every thing give thanks. Now you are not thanking Him because your house got burnt, but because He protected your children in that burning house, it could have been worst. Our prayers and material support will be with you.Be strong and let the joy of the LORD be your strength. With Christ in the boat you can laught at the storm.Don`t let that devil see you crying.May God bless you. Love you all.

I grew up next to this house in the La Plaine Valley. I spent a great deal of time in that ‘yard’ during my boyhood days playing with the neighbourhood boys. That’s where I spent a lot of time listening to the life long informal lectures of (deceased) Sgt. Gabe when he came home on long weekends from police stations in other villages where he was the commander. Some of these informal lectures focused on discipline, confidence, respect, life and education. I am sure they have helped to shape my life as adult.

I am deeply saddened by for Ma Gabe’s tragedy. An appeal is going out the La Plaine Diaspora community to help out with funds so that Ma Gabe’s can begin to live a normal life again. Those of you who can respond please contact me ([email protected]) or you can send your funds directly to her in La Plaine.

    Thanks

    Emanuel Finn

There should be fire stations all over Dominica but you see people are so deep in politics and keep blaming each other, issues such as fires are minor. May God give you strength your day to day living.

Nice words of comfort but theologically wrong. John 10:10 tells us it is the thief (satan), that steals and takes away. I don’t see why God would bless us with something and later change his mind and take it away from us when we are enjoying it. We need to stop blaming God for things He did not do. The report clearly tells us that it was a fan that did it; where is God cominig in?

Very good, never alone. The Bible agrees with you on that. The words ‘God has given and God has taken away’ reflected the wrong thinking of the good man Job, who wrongly thought that God was the cause of all his suffering, whereas it was Satan. Job chapters 1 and 2. God is never to blame for the suffering we undergo. Job 34:10 & 12
