gemcare….it is a C130 …and the song // “C130 rolling down the strip,… Airborne Rangers going on a one way trip”….point being …down the strip…C130’s built by USA defense company Lockheed…now known as Lockheed Martin…

Venezuela got that C130 from the USA.

wonder why the USA isn’t there? Look at wikileaks and the treatment of the PM towards the USA…Dominica was lucky the hospital ship even made a stop.

don’t you think if the relations with the USA were good, tons of supplies and help would have poured in?

Yes a few dollars and some equipment from the comrades….not enough however.

Perhaps the PM should do an OJ…not OJ dollars but as I know he will…go around the world seeking funds…the country must be rebuilt and accountability would be too much too ask. But any dollar that finally filters down helps.

that is an incredible feat! It took years and years after hurricane David for Dominica to recover. This Prime Minister is truly a statesman. If it were another individual you’d be hearing excuses and lies and more excuses why everything is broken and this and that. Now we truly have a leader… thank God!

Barbara Saunders: With all due respect to you, highlighting the negativity of others should not be on the Agenda now. If you are like me and you give 100% to the Prime Minister with regard to his leadership of the Erika situation, you should not remind the public of other people’s negativity. It does exist ….. but I think it would be best left if ignored. There is negativity on both side. Those who think Red and those who think Blue. The official leaders Hon. Skerrit and Linton, have led the way and are thinking Grey.(lol). Let us all try to put on the cloak of love and move forward.

I am wondering at this very moment, are Dominicans more in need than the countless Venezuelans living in cardboard shacks with no running water or sanitary facilities? This is like stealing from the man living under the Roseau bridge.

It’s very important for us as Dominicans to remember that our fellow Dominicans are hurting. It is imperative that we respect and thank all the countries that sent resources and their citizens to assist us during this time. Each of their Citizens has also put their selves in harm’s way through dangerous situations to help and we need to respect and appreciate that. I’ve listen to a particular radio station, and all I heard for four consecutive days was pure criticism, and negativity. It’s very easy to criticize and judge; but I could not imagine the impossible decisions that the Government might have had to make; so I think we need to be open-minded. We tend to judge many situations without getting facts and this creates all kind of chaos. To those members who are part of the Media, your job is to be fair and impartial and report accurate information and find it in your hearts to give this people encouragement and words to wisdom and hope. What we say defines who we are!!!!

Hats off Mr. Bardouille and all the persons who have volunteered and helped at the Airport and other areas of the Marigot constituency.

From the comments from certain quarters it was an impossible task but anything the mind conceives can be achieved particularly if the Lordship and supremacy of the Most High is given control.

Good show Dominicans! Abandon them one by one in their pit of negativity!

I also take the opportunity to salute DBS and its consummate professionals such as Shermaine Brown for their commitment to God and country. To the other radio stations hats off too WITH ONE EXCEPTION FOR WHICH IT IS NEGATIVE BUSINESS AS USUAL! I know that one or two of the staff of that latter station tried but a lifestyle of negativity is hard to change.

I do not know you but under the circumstances I did not expect a D/can to make such an inconsiderate and lowly comment. Furthermore Venezuela is not so far away from Dominica and the Venezuelan government is an ally of Dominica. This aircraft looks (to me) as a fighter plane. Does this friendly and generous gesture of the Venezuelan government bother you?
It appears you are envious because it is the Venezuela aircraft. What other reason? Envy is one of the deadly sins. It will only eat at your heart and get you nowhere.

    • Francisco Telemaque
      September 2, 2015

And you are correct, why not LIAT bringing stranded passengers who were on their way to Dominica, and were hindered by the storm.

The fact that the Venezuelan military are the first to land an aircraft with the head of dictator affix to the tail wing, with the word ALBA, displayed is nothing more than political. Skerrit ploy is to convince our nation that ALBA is Dominica’s backbone and future.

Our people should take notice, that all the financial donations received thus far from the United States China, and the nations in Europe, it has not yet amounted to a million dollars U.S., has anyone wondered why? I have my suspicions, I’ll only say this; it is either because they have no keen interest in Dominica, or they are not prepared to give away money to a regime, known to be corrupt, and vindictive, and wasteful.

IF you keep your country primitive, and allow your people to live a primitive lifestyle prior to the disaster; donors will only give you peanut change, simply to…

      • Francisco Telemaque
        September 2, 2015

Indeed they will give you a handout of peanut change simply to say they know you exist; however they will not give you any significant amount enough to get you into a better state than you were prior to the storm!

The peanut change, the crumb the devil leaves that they are giving us, cannot do very much, that is a an insult, a slap in the face of our people. Now all who wish to give me thumbs down because of my views can go right ahead; I know some are suggesting to themselves, if he speaks that way “they will not want to help us. Earlier this year a black gospel singer (not a government) decided he wanted to help the government of Jamaica.

He did it by handing over a cheque of sixty (US$60,000,000.00) million US dollars to the government of Jamaica. I reiterate he is a Black gospel singer, not a government!

        Food for thought!

For a moment I believed Roosevelt Skerrit when he asked for politics to be kept out of our disaster. How wrong can one be….? Monday evening a gaggle of labour party hacks were observed at Canefield with their red shirts, entering the Venezuelan helicopter, presumably for a tour or entertainment on their ship. You truly can not change the spots on a dog, can you?

      September 3, 2015

That is why the help he is getting thus far is the crumb from the bread the devil leaves!

If I may draw to your attention many years ago, all of the paved road around the island needed resurfacing, I think it was soon after we attained our independence. The British and the Americans decided to help.

I believe the British undertook the North, North East section of the island, while the American took the Southern part of the island, they did it for free, since then they have not done any to that magnitude in our country. That that gives you an idea that our government in recent years, form the days of the coalition government days, to all of Skerrit’s has done nothing more than offend the governments of the world who can truly help us.

As long as Skerrit is at the head of a government in Dominica, our nation will continue to struggle in poverty. Our association with ALBA will be our crippling downfall!

Skerrit needs to go, either by his own will or the will of the people by…

It was built in America, and sold to Venezuela for financial gain, so what are you insinuating?

In the days of in the seventy plus years of communism in the now defunct Soviet Union, the United States conducted business with the communists, they sold agricultural products to the Soviet Union, and bought products from them too!

I hope that when aid is distributed none of those participating will wear party colours, no blue, no red, no green. If I had my way they would all wear a simple white T-shirt with Dominica written in large letters to get the message home that everyone is affected and that everyone counts equally. Thank you.

Just some information with regards to q95 show last night.

USNS COMFORT (T-AH 20) is a seagoing Medical Treatment Facility, not a shore-based MTF (military treatment facilities). It is a Level III facility capable of providing resuscitation and stabilization care; initial wound and basic surgery; and postoperative treatment.

    Look at the primary mission:
PRIMARY MISSION: To provide rapid, flexible, and mobile acute health service support to Marine Corps, Army and Air Force units deployed ashore, and naval amphibious task and battle forces afloat.

SECONDARY MISSION: To provide mobile surgical hospital service and acute medical care in disaster or humanitarian relief.

If you carefully observe the aircraft, you will note LIAT or any other smaller planes would not have been able to land and take off due to the damage to the airport. This is a special aircraft which probably is accustomed to flying under such conditions.
Thank God for it and that it was able to fly to Dominica. We should be elated and grateful.
