The Eden’s Lane, Goodwill home of a former Labour Commissioner, Bennet Austrie and his family, was destroyed by a fire which began in the early hours of September 2.
Acting Fire Chief Farley Riviere told Dominica News Online that the Fire Department responded to the call at about 8.01 p.m.
However, the structure was already fully ablaze when they arrived.
The 15 x 30 foot, two-storey, four-bedroom building was made partially of wood and that section was severely affected by water.
Riviere informed that they are actively continuing investigations into the cause of the fire. However, based on the information received, the fire began in an eastern bedroom.
This is the second fire to have destroyed a house in recent weeks. The Wallhouse residence of Rosie Felix was destroyed on August 21.
