Government offers $20,000 reward for information on Shanice Jemmott

Shanice Jemmott has been missing for a month now

Government is offering a $20,000 reward for any leads to finding Shanice Jemmott who has been missing for one month now.

The latest figure brings the total reward up for Jemmot’s discovery to $35,000, with the other contributions put up by her family and private sector.

Jemmot, a Layou resident, spent her 15th birthday away from home last Sunday.

Kelver Darroux Member of Parliament for St. Joseph said he is concerned that amidst all efforts by government, police, and some Dominicans to find the missing teenager there are those who are giving false information regarding her whereabouts.

“We find that there are a lot of persons out there who continue to give information which is misleading and this must stop because this is a very serious matter,” Darroux stated firmly.

He added, “She’s been missing for over a month now, her family is in dire need of assistance and support and when you have malicious persons out there giving misleading information it really tends to break down the family. No matter what the situation is, the reality is that she is a child. Some persons may have all their ideas and so forth but she’s a child and she needs to be found and she needs to return to her family.”

Yes she is a child but if shanice wanted to be found dont you think she would make a way? if she was given opportunities to go to the shop why didnt she use them to inform people or the shop keeper who she is? I just hope she’s safe and she will return home to her family.
Where ever you are you are still in our prayers

this is a new kind of crime for dominica.
the police and those concerned ,should take a serious look at all these shady foreigners in the area.
    all of them.

  12. I hope that she is found
    March 16, 2011

WE have to think of all the possibilities.. Not sure if that was already done….but what about the ports, if she left the island would there be a record of her exit?. Unless she was carried away illegally. There is so much illegal trade going on these days…human trafficking for all types of reasons including young girls to be used as prostitutes..it may sound alarming but it is happening in the Caribbeanyoung girls are inticed with promises of a better life then are forced to work in foreign countries as prostitutes . I hope that is not the case.

I’m really elated that there have been assistance from the government and other sources to quicken the investigion for the safe return of this young lady.

I would be realy disappointed however if ths entire disappearance didn’t need the upheaval and concern it has caused amongst the Dominica Society…

I pray for her safe return!

the exact same things i was talking about and everybody was checking i was bad to say such things

Admin use to either edit my comment or delete it all together
Now every body thinking what i was thinking from the start
i just think i way ahead of the game than some of you

What i saying is that: the same guy that is the suspect wasn’t earlier on in that case
If u can remember there was WANTED photos up for this guy for unrelated crimes (not for the disappearance of Shanice) and now all of a sudden he is a suspect..
What i trying to say is that they are not telling us everything..

    March 16, 2011

    Dear Shanice,
This dilemma of yours really concerns me, and I hope that you are alive and well, wherever it is that you are right now. Everyone say this must be tough on your family, for not knowing your whereabouts. But what about you? You’re so young and so so vulnerable. It may be even tougher on your part, I can only imagine the turmoil in your mind. The young man in question really ought to be handled by the law if he’s the cause of your disappearance. If the situation happens to be one where you left with him willingly…if you’re in a position to hear a radio, read a newspaper, browse the internet…we plead with you Shanice to consider the emotional pain and distress which you’re not only causing to your family but to yourself and everyone who has heard your story by now. This guy CANNOT love you, no matter how you think of it. You’re only a child and should have no business running away from home to be with a man twice your age. Mentally, Shanice, you’re not ready for that aspect of life yet. And if the situation is one where you were kidnapped and being held against your will, we as a nation pray for the intervention of our Heavenly Father. May He keep you safe in this tragedy, may he strike down any evil plan that the devil might be concocting for you, may he soothe any suffering that you may be enduring right this minute and eventually bring you back to the loving circle of your family; the place you call home.

May God be with you Shanice, and may your family find comfort in He who does not give us more than we can bear.

      March 16, 2011

You’re comment makes alot of sense. You’ve mentioned every posible scenario.

IF Shanice is with this guy, and they have left Dominica, wouldn’t she need her passport or some form of ID.

IF she is still in Dominica, I find it difficult to understand how NO one has come forward with information. It seems that nothing in Dominica is private, there is always someone minding someone elses business. I’m sure the idea of ‘neighbourhood watch’ was started in Dominica.

To all those who continue to spread gossip (without facts), stop and think of the hurt you are causing a already broken hearted family.

    That took time…
Better late than never but I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s out of Island or dead right now because it’s been a month now and that’s not good in any country

Hope we are collaborating with the French authorities as she may well be on their shores or passed through there. I just hope we’re not too late

I agree with your statement 100%. We human beings like to judge persons. It doesn’t matter how bad a person is, the fact is is a mother that make her and she is a child. Too often when things happen we want to be judge, jury and executioner. I pray to God that she is still alive and may she get comfort wherever she is, To the family, I can only tell you to be of good courage and be strong.

        Sadist

For your sake, in the name of Jesus Christ, I rebuke this thought that Satan spoke through you against Mots.

Boy/girl, man/woman, the person that you are; I advise you that we must think carefully, before we reveal the thing that is in our mind.

Our tongue, speaking our thoughts, or as you have done expressed it in writing, can be a weapon against our selves. We cannot speak jugdment against people, the way you did against Mots. It would have been better to simply give him a thumbs down. Try to understand!

This child cannot be still in Dominica. Has the authorities been working with the other islands? Martinique, Guadeloupe, Antigua Etc.? This must be so tough on the family. They may have to start expanding their own search to include the other islands. Might be costly but very necessary. May you find peace in this difficult time.
