Haiti started burying some of its dead in mass graves in the wake of Hurricane Matthew, a government official said on Sunday, as cholera spread in the devastated southwest and the death toll from the storm rose to 1,000 people.

The powerful hurricane, the fiercest Caribbean storm in nearly a decade, slammed into Haiti on Tuesday with 145 mile-per-hour (233 kph) winds and torrential rains that left 1.4 million people in need of humanitarian assistance, the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said.

A Reuters tally of numbers from local officials showed that 1,000 people were killed by the storm in Haiti, which has a population of about 10 million and is the poorest country in the Americas.

It is a sad situation. 1.4 million are in need of assistance. That is a lot of people in dire need.
I am wondering what steps the Haitian government took to advise the people who reside in those poor areas that would be affected by Matthew to get out of there and go to a more secure place. At least it could have saved lives.

Do not believe their lies. Why show this pathetic picture? Why not show the ‘mass’ graves? It’s all a pack of deception to get us to agree to give money we don’t have so that the money can be laundered.

Do not be taken in and remember that 99% of everything reported in the mass media is a lie.

Don’t be an idiot. They tell us that 1400 have been affected and 1000 are in mass graves and then give us this b*llsh*t picture.

Do they think we are stupid?

This is a money-laundering scam supported by the UN and our leaders. The idea to get the rich to donate money, get us to put in taxpayers’ money which will then end up back into the pockets of the politicians and the rich doners.

Check out the Clinton Foundation – a well-proven scam of scams doing exactly this thing.

The people of Haiti have been through enough, they do not need these insults. How can you attack our fellow Caricom citizens and not feel guilty? When I look at the images of the suffering people, It makes me feel like moving mountains to assist. PM, please use your influence to alleviate the plight of these struggling people. An appeal to businesses to assist is not good enough. May the Almighty ease their pains!

Do not believe ANYTHING reported in the mainstream media. They reported wide-scale damage to Florida too and took their images from the 2015 Katrina events. Some of the pictures were not even taken in Florida.

Use your critical senses. The image you see with this article. Is this Haiti? Could be anywhere. These people (the MSM) have their own agenda and for years it has been to TOTALLY control how we thing and following from that, how we act.

By the way, you remember the pictures of kids being gassed by the government of Syria? Turned out to be total and absolute fakery. Mind manipulation is the order of the day in 20161

I cannot confirm where in Florida that was damaged. I know some people who reside in different parts of Florida.
I spoke to at least two of them who reside in different parts of Florida. They got rain but they have no damage. It is as if, for them, there was no hurricane in Florida.
I have yet to hear what parts of Florida were damaged. I will be talking to another one soon.

        There you go!

Dominicans don’t be fooled. If you want to know how Haiti was affected, SPEAK TO HAITIANS THEMSELVES WHO HAVE ACTUALLY SEEN, OR EXPERIENCED WHAT THE MAIN STREAM MEDIA IS TELLING US.

We are being fooled big, big time.

Look at the picture – this could be ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD. If they are saying that 1000 are in mass graves, why not show us the pictures that show us a relevant picture. You know why they are not doing so, BECAUSE IF THEY DO WE WILL FIND OUT THE LIE!

I just carefully read the two comments and my conclusion is you guys are just heartless. There is no others word to qualify your statements but you both need Christ into your lives.
Ignorance is a very bad thing but remember we are all in it (the Caribbean) together, we should not rejoice over that. None of us is hurricane proof nor earthquake proof.

A WORD TO THE WISE IS SUFFICIENT.
    God bless you guys!

Nobody is rejoicing, people need to accept facts and their flaws for what it is… Because only when It’s identified can you over come it. Keep acting like everything is all good. Haitian Government NEEDS A massive PURGE. They have their assets while the average man wallows in filth. You said none of us is Hurricane proof or Earthquake proof but some are more prone to others due to Infrastructural development! The people are living in Cardboard/Galvanize houses.

Yes, go on believing everything you read in the mass media.

The same mass media that reports that Dominica is ‘zika infested’. That the country is a sick place to be with mass amputees, loads of fat people; thousands people with dementia and non-communicable chronic diseases.

Is that the Dominica you know? Of course it isn’t. But it is the Dominica that you are told that is.

You are a disgrace and a shill to make such a stupid comment.

You are a total and absolute idiot.

How do you know that the hurricane caused the damage the msn are telling us it did? They already lied about Florida and were found out. Did you not know that?

How do you know that the picture on this page is of Haiti? It could be of anywhere in the world?

Are you the blind monkey that believes everything you are told by the media?

I have friends in Haiti and they tell me that the hurricane caused some winds, but no one was really hurt and that the media is blowing things up because the big guns want to launder ‘aid’ money and to use Haiti for that. Most Haitians are quite upset about that, but are told if they speak up, they will be in trouble with the authorities.

Haiti violently fought for their freedom and got it early. Now look what they’re doing with it. Building little huts made of garbage and ravaged with poverty… Most who flea their country and go to the States, France, England make a name for themselves in crime. It’s funny because the other day I watched a documentary where a Haitian minister talked about “If the French don’t come back and give aid” There French influence “Culture” would be gone and other Languages will take over. your negative picture and thinking of haitians living in the the usa is far from the truth..i am a dominican and lives in new jersey.i have a lot of personal interaction with haitians who goes to college where i work,,they are proud of their country and culture, they are well educated, promote sports, friendly and loving people and make a good life for themselves..they are not involve in crimes as you wrongfully claim. .you should be ashamed of yourself and not being so negative against our brothers and sisters in time of disaster..now is time to lift them up and not put them down.

Agreed. The US Haitians I have met are highly educated, very well spoken and quite charming. Haiti is a great country and don’t forget that it is the world’s leading producer of vetiver which is the fragrance used for luxury perfumes worldwide.

Haiti is being targeted negatively by the powers that be and for reasons which will become clear to us soon.

        Do not believe their lies!

      @Dominican Passports
You are absolutely right. Haitians managed to build the worst country in this hemisphere. Truly failed state with no visible socio-economic perspectives. Haitians can blame France, DR, colonialism, capitalism etc but the truth is they are unable to build a normal society and they managed to live on foreign aids for decades.

      • Jeremy De la Roche
        October 12, 2016

You are one uneducated idiot. Haiti is the world’s leading supplier of vetiver – the fragrance used in ALL luxury perfumes of the world.

Compared to Dominica which has NOTHING except idiots like you in it, 99% of poor people in it; a dictatorial regime in place and INCOME that is only achieved via the sale of its passports, Haiti is sheer heaven.

      • Haiti - world's leading supplier of vetiver
        October 13, 2016

Mzungu, your description is 100% of Dominica, I don’t see Haiti anywhere in it.

Dominica has no exports other than its passports and it has been 100% dependent on foreign aid for all its young life. Dominica is the poorest country in the Caribbean.

Haiti, on the other hand, is the world’s leading supplier of vetiver which is a fragrance used in all luxury perfumes of the world.
