Gweneth Roberts of Marigot said when she left her village for the city on Saturday morning with her kids; she would never imagine that it would be the last time seeing her 12-year-old daughter Keyana Emmanuel.
Roberts and her son were among 10 other individuals involved in a tragic accident on the Pond Casse road on that rainy and fateful Saturday morning.
“We left home that morning to go to town to take some photos to send to Guadeloupe for their father (Laurent Emmanuel). Just before we left she told her brother she didn’t want to go to town because her clothes had gotten wet but we still went,” Robert recalled.
According to Roberts the bus driver wasn’t really speeding “but he wasn’t driving slow either” and according to her, “a certain time I just felt the bus on one side then it flipped over twice and then I don’t remember much.”
She explained further that, “Everything went dark for a bit and then when I opened my eyes I saw my daughter lying on the ground.”
Roberts said she had lost all hopes when she saw how badly injured her daughter was.
“Her head was split. Her brain was even coming off it. I even held some in my hands and she was bleeding all over,” she sobbed.
She said young Keyana Emmanuel was quiet and fun to be around.
“I don’t know why this happened. All I can do is cry,” she said.

I am a mother and really it pains my heart just reading this. It is always good to follow your heart, she wanted to go back only because her clothes got wet, this was the reason, if only that mother had known. My dear we may say she’s gone too soon, but believe me it was not too soon for the Lord’s calling cry, yes but please don’t cry like there is no hope for her she is with the father the one whom she really had to take the pictures for. Remember! the Lord will never forsake you in times like this he’s carrying you. Be strong for you other children.

u know i live in sxm and there was a similar accident like this two days before keyana’s she came from a school bus and got rolled over by a dump truck she was crushed, she was also 12years.to keyana’s family my deepest sypathy goes out to you.keep strong.

that rainy saturday morning i was on my way to town as well and in my spirit, i thought that something not right would happen. i even cautioned the bus driver as to the route we were taking and that it had been raining for days now- that driving as usual was out of the question.
that same bus overtook my bus in marigot – we thought he is crazy- its wet out there….. ( i would have imagine passengers on board that bus would have said something to caution him…….
we as passengers must speak our minds at time. let the driver knows how we feel about his driving.. am serious! we cant always leave things 2 chance because that is where the devil waits to snatch us.
that sweet child should be alive—and dont you dare say it was her time for it wasnt! because people die before their time. our score 70yrs with the grace of God but things happen (sickness-accidents-murder etc.)
we must always be on the look out especially to things that can be avoided.

I feel your pain, it is not a nice experience, mummy, sisters, brothers, father, no one will feel it like you, cry as much as you would like, it helps, because I am speaking from experience.

Another conclusion… if the bus driver wasn’t “Excatly speeding” Was that the wind was to strong and tilted the bus to a side?…Which in therory would still mean that the buss was speeding to make it seem lighter….Or the bus went into a port hole bumped up in the air and because of the wind it tilted and flipped over….
