Marpin 2k4 Limited said on Monday it is saddened after one of its employees succumbed to injuries from an accident on the job.

Runnel Baron, a construction and planning engineer, had been out of hospital recuperating but had to be rushed back last week after contracting an infection, said Walter Maude, General Manager of Marpin 2k4.

He disclosed that Baron died Saturday night. Maude has described Baron as a reliable employee and said management was anticipating his return.

“We were all shocked and there’s a great deal of grief and distress among the staff of his passing,” he said.

Baron was flown to a Martinique hospital few days after a utility pole he was working on, broke and toppled on him.

The incident occurred in Les Pointe on September 16.

the amount of money utility cost on Dominica why can’t they invest in utility vehicles with the bucket. It is 2011.

Next when we are feverishly building a palace and overlooking the healthcare system. we will always have to raise funds and dish out money to other countries for medical purposes.

Like everyone said it is really sad to hear of his death and just as he got home hoping that he was on his way to recovery. my people it is important to think before we write, some comments are blaming the hospital and DNO the guy was at PMH for a while maybe he should have stayed there a little longer but he could have died there to so don’t blame PMH for sending him home, also is true DNO could have put another pic there, but for ne readers of this news they would want to see it to, so my people make suggestions and stop the blaming

It should be made against the law for utility companies to have pole climbing staff working individually. It’s not safe. One does not know what is happening at street level when they are high up on the ladder. What one would miss in regards to safety, the other might notice.

I pray that another family will not be struck with this kind of fatality.

DNO Admin, Is that the only pic you have of Baron? Please, this should not be the pic shown here. Can you get another pic of the man’s normal face, so we could identify him? Thanks.

ADMIN: Only one we have. The reason why we use this one in that position is because his face is not being shown. If his face was appearing in the photo and he was in that position, we would never use it.

We are saddened to lose another one of our peeps. Don’t we have any kind of health care system in DA? We go to Martinique for critical medical treatment, really? Now our economic passport program dollars could come into great use in this respect, don’t you think? RIP dude.

@”put them straight”…..should an unfortunate incident like this hit your doorstep I want to see if you will still ask “what is so graphic about the pic?” I for one know I would not want MY or any person I care about body to be displayed in this manner. Admin: would you like it if it were YOU or someone you cared about? The line between tact and distasteful cyan be so thin…magway ca!
